I could be alone in being old enough to have seen the Monkees live in concert. They actually put on a good show, although I might have been a bit impressionable...
You mean old enough to have seen them in the 60s? ;-)

I was 9 years old when the Monkees first came on TV, but I saw my first concert at 12 - and by then, the Monkees were pretty much non-existent. They did have some reunion tours in the 80s though.

I'm thinking of concerts of interest that I saw before most of the people here on KVR were of concert age. Probably the most notable was the Stones' EXILE ON MAINSTREET tour (1972), with Stevie Wonder opening.

Yes, in '67! I was nearly 8, and I thought it was a big deal mainly because my parents made it out to be a big deal. Of course it was in the same spirit that they took me to see, f'rinstance, Ella Fitzgerald and BB King.

What seriously cool parents! Actually, though, my parents were pretty cool too - but not till the 70s. :-)

They bought me my first instruments, sent me off to music school, and even accompanied me to venues where I was underage so that I could see Stan Getz and Dizzy Gillespie and the like.

Awesome that you got to see Ella Fitzgerald. I never saw her, but my brother did.
