Sonar 5PE not seeing any plug-ins

Hi,
I recently upgraded from Sonar 2 to S5PE.
I have just purchased Stylus RMX, and although the Plug-in wizard finds it during its scan, it does not appear on any vst lists following that, or in the Insert -> Soft Synths -> VSTIs menu.
Spectrasonics have been very helpful, and have phoned several times to try to solve it, bu, having confirmed that it is installed correctly, they too are stuck.
I have now tried installing another plug-in for testing purposes (microtonic demo), and the same thing happens - implynig it's a Sonar issue.
All my existing plug-ins that I installed in version 2 are OK.
I'm about to email Cakewalk, but I'm at work and the serial number's at home, so can't do it until tonight.
Anyone have any ideas?
thanks,
Emma

You should double check where you have installed the dll's that are missing, you need to tell the adapter where to look.

I've tried the dlls in various folders, and each time added the folder to the list to be scanned. It finds the dll during the scan (and marks it as 'new'), but then, when I click 'next' and it configures the plug-ins, that's the last I see of it...

what happened when you ran my AdaptorCheck program?

Ah right, no problem.

Right... I ran the checker, and there were two entries for RMX:
===========================================
Found registry entries for the Cakewalk (Tempo Synced) adaptor
===========================================
...found info for the plugin C:/Program Files/Cakewalk/Shared Plugins/StylusRMX.dll/ with clsid {141AC902-5374-794D-5354-594C55537E31}
...found info for the plugin C:/Program Files/Steinberg/Vstplugins/StylusRMX.dll/ with clsid {141AC902-5374-794D-5354-594C55537E31}
(I've deleted all else out)
I have made some other prgress... I tried again on my laptop (which has never had previous versions of SOnar or FXPansion on it), and at first it didn't show up. Then I noticed that SFZ wasn't there, either, which comes free with S5PE.
I ran the wizard, ensuring that just the folder where SFZ (and RMX) resided were in the list.... and it has worked.
So, on my PC, I have now disabled the old fxpansion adapter, uninstalled SOnar 2, and re-intsalled 5. I have removed all but c:\prog files\cakewalk\vst plugins folder from the wizard list...
...but this didn't work.
Tonight I am going to delete / uninstall ALL my VSTIs, and try again...
<edit>
By the way, the only reason they are under tempo-synced, is because in my desperation I was trying everything, so selected this in my last attempt, even though I knew it probably wouldn't make any difference.

Hmmmm. Sonar doesnt like multiple instances of the same plugin (one of them usually disappears), so that may be related...Pootle wrote:Right... I ran the checker, and there were two entries for RMX:

When you do this, do a full reset-and-rescan of the adaptor. In fact you should have done a reset of the FXpansion adaptor to clear out all its entries before you removed it.I have made some other prgress... You can remove it from the registry by hand. You want to run regedit from the command line, search for 'FXpansion' and delete the entry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/FXPansion/VST-DX Adapter

I would try installing the 5.0.1 patch
Not sure if it's related to your problem but there were some bugs fixed relating to missing plug-ins

Thanks - I did try this on my PC (and the RMX update) but it didn't work. Incidentally, I hadn't bothered installing either the patch or the update on my laptop, yet it did work on there, so while I'll be installing them when this is sorted, I don't think it's the actual problem.maoinhibitor wrote:I would try installing the 5.0.1 patch

I just hope Cakewalk don't get arsey if I tell them that I've installed it on 2 machines,even if one is only for test purposes and won't be used...
