Can I play VSTi's with Chainer, just like I play them in MiniHost, FL Studio or any other host, directly from the keyboard? I just can't seem to do this...

Thanks in advance

Yep, you can. Go to settings (it's in the system menu) and select your MIDI in and out ports.

i think he means his qwerty keyboard, which doesn't use a midi port ;)

and i don't think you can, but i'm no chainer expert

Ah... thanks, Muff :)
No, you can't do that.

Yes, you can. Make sure the focus is on the Chainer window, and then start pressing away. I believe 'Q' and 'Z' are both C, though I can't remember which octave.

It's annoying that you need focus on the Chainer window, though, as fiddling with a synth means you need to keep clicking on the synth, then back on the Chainer window, then back on the synth, etc., etc. Also, I've noticed that if you press down on the keyboard, then release after focus has been transfered to the synth, then the MIDI release is not set.

If you don't want the FOCUS to be always on Chainer then try Vanilin Midi Keyboard. You can minimize it to the taskbar. Another thing that you need with this is MidiYoke. So the setup would be like this:
Vanilin -> midiyoke -> chainer (or any seq)

Or instead of Vanilin you can take the more sophisticated Bome's Mouse Keyboard
