Audio recorder VST?

Hello, I was wondering if there's a VST out there that would let me record an audio stream and save it to disk.
Really I'm just looking for "record what you hear" functionality within Cubase SX (unlike my old $10 SBLive, my M-Audio Firewire Solo doesn't have this function built-in either, or if it does I can't figure out how to use it).
Anyone? Thanks.
(edit: I should mention that I'd prefer this way rather than through Total Recorder because the latter sort of screwed up my audio on my laptop. I haven't tried Virtual Audio Cable, though)

There's also Voxengo recorder or you could do this with energyXT.

author: try routing a cable from either balanced outputs into FW solo's front guit in and mess around with the mixers settings. I was able to record into cool edit. Also you can try virtual cable.. As for VST I use SilverSpike's tape it 2.1.2 It's saved my ass more than 1ce..

Stream Boy supports streaming to disc now also. See this thread:

Tobybear's channelgrabber is a good VST for this. You can control it with MIDI notes as well.

I just downloaded the Tapeit1. I wasn't able to open the included help file. Does anyone know where I can get this help file?
Thanks...

author: The next thing to take into consideration is accuracy.. I use to use tapeit1 and trigger it with MIDI and Incoming audio.. the problem was I would get slightly different recording start/stop times. I then bought tapeit 2.1.2 and it gives you the option to record bar amounts instead of just triggering.. This improved the recordings big time!! JUST something to take into consideration..

Jack will route any incoming audio to your sequencer in real time via its' Jack-Insert VST. Put Jack-Insert on your track, hit record, start up your sound source and it's all good. All you have to do is trim the unwanted silence at the beginning.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.
