Alt this "genreing" of music is crap. If you really want to make something good - mix genres. I do Industrial Electronic for fun... but mix all of the genres I like with it. My main entertainment is a bit different, but you have to do something just for thr fun of it.

This is why I ignore the "scene". I don't care what's-what or who's-who. I do what sounds good. If I'm writing something and it doesn't sound enjoyable, or it doesn't have a good groove, I scrap it. It's that simple. Most of the electronic musicians I know personally (I don't know too many) do it the same way

Works for us!
I think if more people did this rather than constraining themselves to artificial rules and standards, more good music would be written.

I'm so glad I was there at the begining of dance music - disco, hip hop, hi-nrg, electro, house and trance/hardhouse. Dance music has become so straight - it's boring and predictable.

DnB is technos young cousin. It has effectively evolved in a great pile of teutonic uberagressive noise with nearly every track sounding the same, and with everything interesting happening in the margins (john b's stuff, live crosses like Keiretsu

, proggy/bukemy stuff like that lovely future engeneers mix on DOA etc.)

Same like with techno, everything intereisting is going on in it's minimal, clicky and deep sides, while the dominating hardbanging stuff has sets sounding like one 16bar percussive loop with few fx and edits put on endless repeat.

Breaks are a genry that still has a vibrant and live mainstream with a lot of width in style (well, at least compared to the two above).

I'm sorry, that just sounds bizarre to me. Since when was combining Industrial and "Electronic" considered mixing genres? As far back as I can remember (say... Skinny Puppy - The Lost Tapes ~1983) Industrial was a heavily electronic form of music.

by now.. there are quiet a few sub-genres to "microhouse"
sometimes it is hard for me to tell .. what it is..
but i like all of those..

a very good example of what microhouse can be,

i like it because they use alot of "organic sounds"
like: bottles, lighters, clicks, sniff, breath, caugh, whatever..
so based on that..the music sounds ..
not really like "classic electronic music" anymore,
it has a touch of nature, organic breath in it..
and it creates "mind-movies" in my head,
since it reflects alot of "moments" taken
from everyday life... so it reflects
the "moments of daily life" as a musical process.

it`s a mixture of alot of nice genres..
like house, chillout, ambient, world music,
garage, goa-trance etc.

so, for me this stuff is more art than real music,
it`s relaxing, therapy? whatever.

That sounds like the sort of thing ambient was good at, until it was replaced by chillout.

Funny thing - dnb got too fast, ceded territory that got filled by nu skool breaks. Happy hardcore got too fast and cheesey, ceded territory that got filled by hardhouse. Hardcore got too fast, ceded territory that got filled by hardstyle. Ambient got too experimental, ceded territory that got filled by chillout.

All the rave genres got deposed by clubby equivalents! OMG WTF BBQ

I wouldn't call the DnB scene electronic though. There is good and bad in all genres, you might have got unlucky... or heard the same Amen Drum loops sampled for the thousanth time I really like John B's DnB it really is electronic.

I wonder what the new style of dance music will be?

I think you missed my point I would lump HipHop in there also - I was only using the material downloaded from DOA as an example.
I honestly could not imagine going out anywhere where all they played was 'house' or 'drum'n'bass' or 'minimal techno' or whatever all night.
As stated I don't and can't go out and haven't been for quite a few years.
I really can't see it as a positive thing for any music scene in general either.

without rules there would be chaos.

I expect to see more acoustic instruments in 'electronic' styles more and more.. in the future.

Is this how modern day electronic scene reaslly is ?
