Seems like "best of 2005" threads are appearing, so what have been your fave gigs of the year??
I've really enjoyed a few this year

The Dirty Three - amazing amazing amazing  Wonderful live, and Warren Ellis is nice to talk to, though I guess he just tollerated my drunken company

Quintron & Miss Pussycat - okay the music wasnt that great, but the puppet show was!!! :-o An odd story about two cavemen and the skunk of love (hmmm... :?: )

David Thomas Broughton (plus the rest of the bands at the chinchilla fest) - If you havnt seen this guy live, do so!! Folk ambient soundscapes - stunning

Khanate/Melt-Banana - total utter carnage :D

Kid606/Drop the lime - total utter carnage :D

Ooh! Quite a few.
Janek Shaeffer was great, Printed Circuit were fun, Machinefabriek is in great form these days, Jessica Rylan was...very odd, but great.
La STPO were wonderfully weird.
The FM3 one was just beautiful.
Schwarz were very cool.
There was this Spanish folk band that set the tent in which they were playing on fire with their bagpipes.

The Enablers show was maybe the best one yet, though.

Blackalicious was great. I haven't been to many shows this year and I just missed MF Doom. Grrrrrr. I'm kicking myself in the ass for that one. I regret not going to that almost as much as I regret not seeing Cannibal Ox in 2001.

I missed every single Killa Keller show in leeds this year - bah.
MF Doom would rule live

Saw Stereo Total two nights in a row this summer.

Recently saw Broadcast, which was also a kick ass show.

Someone mentioned 13 And God in atother thread. That gig was pretty good, too, in spite of the shitty sound (if the Affaire soundguy happens to read this: you suck!). Saw Tuk that same day and that was marvellous Fenneszesque emotive abstract stuff.

mc chris. I've never had more fun at a gig. plus his "DJ" is a stand up guy.

The Musical Box - Genesis (Peter Gabriel era) tribute band, doing the whole "Lamb lies down on broadway" live. Fantastic. the details both visually and musically.

The Flaming Lips - Best show ever.....positive vibrations,...the same feeling as the first time you go to a zoo, or a circus, when you´re 5 years old.

I've been meaning to see him live. I hear his shows are hilarious.

let me see, Dance or Die and Steril art Wave-Gothik Treffen, as well as Die Krupps and others like Girls Under Glass and Lights of Euphoria. VNV NAtion were better than I thought they would be but the support act in Brisbane kicked their arse. I also enjoyed Psyche the other week.

Yeah, I saw them when they played here in LA. Truly a great show. Especially surprising for a "tribute" band. The "Watcher of the Skys" encore was a great treat too.
