I actually think you hit the nail on the head. I'm not impressed at all with this marketing blurb. AFAIK it's not even unique at all.Ronny Pries wrote: if it wasn't sonalksis whose products i considered quite HQ i'd say it's just a nice marketing bubble wrapped around a rather simple idea for the sake of money making.
Cheers!

Seriously, I just tried the plugin. It's pure bullshit. For the same money you can buy FabFilter's Volcano, which IMHO sounds better and is MUCH more versatile. Also, jackle&hyde is developing Vampire, which on the strength of some of the audio demos totally kills most filters and it should be free too.
I seriously can't see how sonalksis is going to sell this plugin. They've totally missed the point of filters it seems. I feel a bit sorry for them after their superb compressor and those dynamic EQ thingies. A major step backwards for Sonalksis.
Bad, bad move from Sonalksis. No kudos to them from me at least. Two thumbs down.

An example, put the filter in 48dB mode and 'Rude' Resonance setting, then in LP filter mode dial in about 12kHz.. now that is "rude" indeed. Enjoy the extreme aliasing.
This plugin is so

i think we'd better wait for the esteemed mr. steffensen to explain it to us, assuming of course he really can

Tried it:
Don't like GUI
The sound is ok if you want boring smooth filtering
It clips internally so be aware. At least it does in RUDE mode. But I wouldn't use RUDE mode anyway - just too extrem resonance setup.
I don't see how it could compete with Volcano or anything of that sort.
SImply doesn't deserve much attention.

i like the plugin, and it really does it for me. im not gonna buy it tho, as i already have volcano and flexor filters, and everything else is just silly in comparison.

steffensen - i'm not trying to get into any kind of girl-fight at all. I'm interested in the plugin. You expressed excitement about the plugin.
I stated that I didn't 'get it'.
You made a comment about self-oscillation.
I stated I didn't understand how that was relavant.
You replied that you couldn't be bothered explaining it, and suggested someone else might.
Now while I have nothing but full respect for your 12 years of professionalism in the 'business', other experienced and professional KVR members have posted here that they have the same difficulty seeing the point of this plugin. So far no-one has taken up your offer to explain how 'self osciallation' has anything to do with this plugin.
So I'm really hoping you can enlighten us all, honestly, you seem to have the experience and knowledge - I don't question this.
But when you leave it alone like this, it looks to all the world like you were talking out of your ass and don't really have a point to defend.
I know that isn't the case, so I'm really honestly hoping you can explain this big mystery to us all. You'll have our undying respect if you do so.
Seriously, no offense or 'girl fight' suggested or intended. This is the 'effects' forum, and we are trying to have a decent and useful conversation about an effect, not throw out irrelavant comments and refuse to substantiate them.
And as I'm sure that is *NOT* what your intention was, the ball is in your court now sir.
With all due respect,
Muff Wiggler

The Sonalksis filter most definately does NOT self-oscillate. The only filter I know that truly does self-oscillate is the FabFilter Volcano (There is a switch that you can toggle that turns this oscillation off automatically when there is no input signal. If it's off the filter keeps oscillating even if you press stop in your host).
Self-oscillation = at high enough resonance, the internal noise of the circuits starts feeding back and becomes a gnarly or smooth sinewaveish tone at the set cutoff frequency.
Self oscillation is actually explained in the name itself. It oscillates, by itself.
149 euros for the Sonalksis filter.. I usually don't bitch about price but like they say on Southpark, Jesus titty-fuckin' Christ! This is absurd!
