I'm on the verge of buying a bundled ST 2 XL and SS2 at a local music store here in the UK. I was wondering with the imminent release of extra samples would I be paying much to upgrade once they are out? .. would I be entitled to upgrades/crossgrade promotions from the esoundz website for instance?
The upgrade would be free for you whether you buy from your local store in the UK or from www.esoundz.com

The only difference is that if someone buys on esoundz.com it makes it easier to look things up for any extra sound qualifications (only other way is to fax/scan receipts when it isn't something done through IK's registration qualification process). But, the standard stuff you'd be all set no matter where you buy.

Excellent! Thanks Dave.

Squids,
In an earlier post I believe you mentioned that the Updated Sampletank samples would be avaliable on DVD for a fee to those of us who purchased Sampletank 2XL before January 1st, 2005. Is this correct?

Hi Squids,
thank you for all your information! The great communication in here is one of the reasons why I still think about buying SampleTank XL. I am right now looking for a good bread & butter vsti to replace my last hardware workstations. I am still undecided between Sampletank 2.1 XL, Hypersonic 2 and Dimension Pro. I would love to buy Colossus, but it seems slightly out of range price-wise and also regarding variety. [While there are some evident differences between these instruments, all have in comon that they feature a very broad soundset, and you can set up a song with them, and stick with keep most sounds quality-wise even after demo stage]

Now: I have read all you replies regarding the new soundset, yet two basic questions remain:

- Is it possible to get a complete preset/patchlist of all the instruments that are featured in SampleTank 2.1?

-Regarding the new soundset: Many people I asked (and reviewers in magazines/websites) said that one of the problems with the ST 2.0 XL soundset was that the quality of the library varies a lot - even inside the same patch. I myself played around with it (in a store without headphones...) and found that while some instruments are outstaning, others seem to jump between the multisamples - meaning that the transistions between different samples of the same set can be clearly heard. (Some solo strings stayed in my mind...). Are these problems fixed in the new soundset?

Many thanks and kind regards,
Chris

Don't know about sound lists, that would be posted by IK, not Sonic Reality.

As for the library, we went through it and tweaked things to be more consistent, axed some things, added some things and overall improved it (both SR in the US and IK in Italy did this together). So, it is better. As to sounds "jumping" from one multisample to another... that itself is not a problem to fix by description because some sounds are expressive that way and some sounds are faulty that way. It depends on the sound and it is highly subjective. I, for one, go by what the instrument would do naturally and if that is what is captured then I play TO the sound. If it is unintentionally odd then that is when I am concerned. Real instruments change timbre from note to note. But, all depends on the sound. Too general to be able to discuss without talking about a specific sound.

Thank you very much for the reply! :-D

EDIT

I'd like to apologize - I seemed to me that my post had been removed, but it was in a different thread and I couldn't find it in my records - so sorry. But I'm still curious about the upgrade price for older owners, but I guess it will be also announced soon, since the sample-set list will be released next week...

Yeah - that's great. But what's the deal on the release of said soundset? This is getting so lame...the Sampletank 2.1 announcement is almost a year old now:

http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM05 ... nk-21.html

It's bad enough that the 2.1 file update took like over 10 months to actually be released...but are we actually going to see a FULL YEAR ELAPSE before the new soundset gets to the userbase?

The longer they make us wait the better the extras will be. Squids and crew always seem to make up for things like this by going above and beyond. I'm sure they'll through in something that will make you smile. I think it will all be worth the wait when it's all said and done.

I have no problem waiting within the reasonable announced limits. The original 2.1 announcement from NAMM said Spring 2005 for the new plugin update AND the soundset. I can't speak for anyone else but I believe as of now, I have finally gone WAY beyond being patient.

At this rate - this soundset release is gonna run right thru the Jan 20, 2005 purchase window to actually get a "free" upgrade...unbelievable...

Many thanks and kind regards,

I have seen a list on the IK site.

I think the complete sound list for 2.1 will be posted on www.sampletank.com next week.
