Artist's title(this thread refuses to Die..)

Ok..
I've been 'Sicklecell666' online now since back on the Hotline network in '98. It's my screen name, email address(for hotmail, anyways), chat name, blah blah..
I've gathered enough material I'm considering offering an independantly released CD or two from my own site I'm having made(Yes, Peter, I'm finally getting around to it..). That, or submitting my stuff to Magnatune(sp?)..or the like.
This is all well and good, but I'm not sure my screen name is appropriate for actual use as a performance artist..
Am I wrong here, or what? Is it just I'm too familiar with it after years of use? Should I use a different title as an Artist?
What do you think?
This has been bugging me for quite awhile now, and I'm no closer to an answer, but I'm nearing obligations that demand I resolve this issue..Not to mention I'm getting internet radio play on several stations, but they aren't all using the same Artist title..
Seriously, I expect the regular jerk-offs to have their fun with this, but I really AM trying to get something accomplished with what I do, and I could use your feedback.
Also, I'm finally at a point where I'm considering joinging some mp3 sites or whatever the f**k they are..If anyone has any recooemendations, please drop em here too.
Cheers everyone, and thanks a bunch..

It just works I'd say; fits the music well enough and doesn't lead to missunderstandings. True it might be a bit over the top for the big world, but it would separate the men from the monkeys imo.
Or am I talking rubbish now
And magnatune seems like the best place to start. Look forward to the first album

Works just fine for a screen name, but people who don't know you are bound to jump to some stupid conclusion about racism (Sicklecell) or might not take you seriously (666), thinking you're playing the kiddie-style "Look at me! I worship Satan! Buy this music to piss off your parents!" game. Not that the later style of music doesn't have it's great moments, but your stuff seems way more "mature" than that.
I'd say go with a name that fits your music well, eg. something dark, smart, and mysterious.
Unless you wan't to call it Donny Weishaupt's Illuminaughty Orchestra, which is fine by me, too

I would shorten to Sickle, to be honest. Sickle alone still sounds "sick" phonetically, has great connotations, but the 666 tagged on kind of makes me think -"please -you're trying to hard to be oh-so darker than everyone else mr. 16 yr. old wearing black."
I have to admit, when I first saw your nick that's what I thought until I was able to see the content of your posts
Probably says more about my highschool days (I was sooo hard
) , but now sounds too alt:pop:death wannabe.
I fear the moniker wouldn't express how classy and sophisticated the music inside is.

I dunno, I'm accustomed to SickleCell666, but maybe it is a time for something new. If you have any new ones in mind, try some out to see if they work for you. You can always go back to the first one in the end.

My immediate thought the first time I saw your screen name:
Thought you'd appreciate the honesty at least

some people can benefit from their real name, yours is just right if you ask me, but don't shorten it to "Don"...when I first saw your name I though "that's a cool name"...:shr...

I prefer Sicklecell or just Sickle. The 666...kinda done, kinda theatrical. You know; "METAL!!"

How about Donovan Leech? It still has the bloody content, and think of all the free publicity when the original Donovan (Donovan Leitch) sues you

No, I never have. I use at as my screen name since it is actually my name (Steven Hamann), but I'm lucky if I get it on some sites, since it can be fairly popular as the misspelled shaman.fabi wrote:speaking of which, i think shamann is a good one, you better be using it.
There actually is a guy who goes by Shamann, recorded some demos for Arturia I think (someone once thought it was me)([edit] found him).
