when you have a moment , or two ...a nod to an abstract rendition of the early biblical references to the Nephilim, or The Fallen; "Angels" who bred with Human women prompting God's wrath and the alledged destruction of Earth through the Great Flood..

That Jenova would be good if it wasn't from a video game. Maybe it's just me but I can't take it seriously. (Please don't take this as an offense; it's just IMO.)

this is what I think everytime I introduce one of your tracks on NTNS.ouroboros wrote:but the 666 tagged on kind of makes me think -"please -you're trying to hard to be oh-so darker than everyone else mr. 16 yr. old wearing black."
'Sickle' works for me, but I wouldn't shed tears if you opted for an entirely new moniker.

I don't, but the context of the name is itself significant:jivamukti wrote:That Jenova would be good if it wasn't from a video game. Maybe it's just me but I can't take it seriously. (Please don't take this as an offense; it's just IMO.)
"Her name is said to be a portmanteau of Jehova and nova: the Hebrew name of God is Jehovah and the last two syllables, '–nova', translate into 'new'. So Jenova is a 'new god', or wants to become one. There is also the connection with the astronomical term Nova, an exploding star, which hints about Jenova's stellar background. She is an extraterrestrial usurper trying to rob the powers of the Planet."

I know you're intellegent enough not to insult you with a protest on why you would consider me that shallow and immature..It's simply something that stuck for ages.intel wrote:this is what I think everytime I introduce one of your tracks on NTNS.ouroboros wrote:but the 666 tagged on kind of makes me think -"please -you're trying to hard to be oh-so darker than everyone else mr. 16 yr. old wearing black."

I've been against Christianity for most of my life(this does not by default make me a 'Satanist, btw), and the 666 aspect is if anything remotely deliberate, it's a nod to The Omen, which remains one of my favorite films of all time.
I even have the '666' tattooed in the same place Damien did in the movie; it's more a kick-back to my love of the 70's Horror Film, but the fact that I must so thoroughly defend and explain this says that I've spent a good deal of time sending the wrong impressions to just about everyone, even those I considered friends..
What a ball of shit..
All this context is absolutely usless if it must be hand delivered in order to prevent an erroneous impression from being established.

that was my point as well...ew wrote:It very definitely has racist connotations- sickle cell anemia exclusively occurs in the black population and is usually fatal eventually.jivamukti wrote:Sickle Cell sounds ok to me (I've never heard it has racist connotations) but leave that 666 out because it sounds like a 16.66 year-old metal kid trying to sound dark and scary - which he of course isn't.
And according to discogs.com no one else has used the alias Sickle Cell.
How about Semichrist 333?

sorry Don[edit]ovan[/edit], but I agree here. sickle on it's own is pretty cool and even that hints enough at all things dark (scythes etc). Don't shoot the messenger, just giving you honest feedback on what the name says to me...ouroboros wrote:but the 666 tagged on kind of makes me think -"please -you're trying to hard to be oh-so darker than everyone else mr. 16 yr. old wearing black."
oops just saw this...
sickle wrote:I can't and won't use 'Donovan', and while we're on that subject, you guys are the ones that adopted the 'Don' nomenclature, but I never pointed out how much it bothered me cause I knew a deluge of deliberate instigations would inevitably follow..

its even more absurd when you have to hand-deliver your defense to people who've never requested such. I merely meant to express the residual shame I felt introducing what I felt to be incredibly well done music produced under what the majority of people would consider a shamefully puerile project appellation. I know you well enough to dispense with the casual judgements one would pass on a person utilizing such a name, but that doesn't mean that I personally wish better for the project. seeing this thread as an avenue to express that desire, I expressed my thoughts honestly.

No worries, Cypher. As I just explained, if a name requires a definition to precede it, the name itself is a failure..
Sickle *could* work on it's own I guess..
My daughter's name is "Nova", so that's another layer of appeal for "Jenova", but I'm not going to go around explaining that at every turn either..
So far, 'Sickle' seems to be the only way out..And it DOES accomadate my demeanor..That reminds me..I have to scan one of my 'toys' for you guys..I think if you saw this thing the issue would be put to rest immediately..
