"Ice Sickle"
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

funnily enough, in a similar vein, people calling me Cypher really bugs meSickle wrote:No worries, Cypher...
thing is, you don't really get a choice in my experience. in the 'real world' people shorten my given name and it annoys me but people are lazy so....

Ok you could leave that beastie boy's number in there, if you want it to be a caricature. It's a choice between your freedom of expression and minding the audience's (wrong) reactions to it.Sickle wrote: All this context is absolutely usless if it must be hand delivered in order to prevent an erroneous impression from being established.

I hope it was clear that I found my initial perception to be totally unfounded: the connotations though, were initially unavoidable for me. I really do like Sickle, or Scythe, for that matter! And Jenova: I don't know the history with that one, but I like the sound of the word up front, and the back story is cool- it does sound a little gentle, though.
how about Balaam or Baalam? : God spoke to Balaam the pagan prophet through an ass (funny - but the idea of speaking through what society ignores), Balor from the whole fantasy plane, Baal the "other god" connotation?
Ack. I'll just let it be. You will find the word(s) that capture and distill your music soon enough.
--edit--
actually, we'd probably be more helpful without suggestions, huh? Just a sounding board.

perhaps he wasn't. you're still a bitter and hateful individual who shouldn't mingle with other human beings. I've given you honest and intelligent feedback and you respond with excuses, whining and vitriol. I've consistently supported your efforts in every way possible and have consistently met with your attitude at every turn. your music has always been in rotation in my personal playlists and in my meager offerings as a radio host to the world at large. the best you've ever done in appreciation is to show up in the chat room and attempt to hijack the conversation and the people present and turn it into your own personal pity party/therapy session. I wash my hands of you, Donovan. you presented yourself as a wholesome and friendly human being when I first introduced myself to this forum, but you've made it a point to perpetually represent yourself as a completely self-centered and unfriendly prick ever since. I couldn't count the number of artists in this world who are as deserving as you of anyone's attention, but whose heads are far less stuck up their own arses and with whom are far more engaging to converse. your art isn't strong enough to support the attitude and ego you convey, and there are many others whose art is, but who don't provide the problems of personal interaction upon which you seem to thrive.Too late. Maybe Ben wasn't as wise as we thought he was..
cheers Donovan. this will be the last time I lower myself to acknowledging your attitude and stroking the pathetic demons of your soul that cannot exist without conflict with your peers.

One could say the same about you, John
The last time I showed up at the NTNS chatroom, I logged in and said hi. You immediately flew off the handle at me for some unknown reason; I logged out.
That was over two months ago. I haven't been back, and I probably won't be either...
I hate to say this (and I'll catch flak from both sides here
), but the reason you two have issues is that you're so alike in a lot of ways.

I play your music to friends, and it doesn't feel right to introduce you as Sicklecell666. I get rolling eyes now and then...
I'll buy your CD even if you call yourself Maggie Thatcher, but maybe just Sickle would suffice?
I mean, we're quite a few who know you as Sickle anyway, and it's unique and vaguely uncomfortable for some unexplainable reason.
Concider me (at almost 40, kids and friends and friends' kids around) playing some kick ass mucic, and someone asks "Hey, who's this?"
I'd rather answer "a buddy who calls himself Sickle".
