Have you tried the full path (if you have proper permissions)?

Thats not the problem - it refuses to run when I start it up (says something about a missing file which is there .. I already chmoded it to 777 but ...)

Maybe its because its stupid Solaris instead of Linux. Grr.

(It's the iso at the botton of the list)

Last time I tried the Agnula one it didn't seem as full featured as Apodio. I'm planning a proper install at some point, the live CDs are good enough to whet your appetite but too much hassle to be serious imho.

There is also an Argentinian one: musix which is also good.

As you can tell Agnula is my favourite but I suppose it depends on what features you want/need. I have already stripped out lots of unnecessary stuff.

I want it for music, lean, fast and stable and as such do not want 3 types of text editors. I don't want a word processor, spell checker, theasorus. I don't want 4 diferent media players etc. So far I have not come across one that is just for multimedia.

I am learning?

(screwing up more like) dfsbuilder and trying to build a Debian distro with vst support that will be just for music and video. Possibly giving a choice on boot: "Multimedia" with fluxbox or "Full" with Gnome.

It would be interesting to know what people want on a media distro though so any feedback welcome.

Skrew Photoshop, try GIMP! Its really very good and it's right-click workflow is excellent. Some of the Script-Foo stuff is also amazing. Its well worth taking the time to learn.

GIMP really is nice. Make sure you get a background window plugin though, otherwise you'll hate it. Or, use Ion and pane the stuff across the screen, like I do.

Some of the Gimp plugins are amazing, and you'll find stuff that just doesn't exist for Photoshop.
Want open source rotoscoping? Import an .avi, and every frame becomes a layer. Hours of fun.
With the GAP you get stuff like onion skinning and other animation tools, too.
FFT for images? it's there.
And so on.

I'm not sure about that. Windows users aren't used to the floating windows look (which seems to borrow an idea from Photoshop on Mac OS 9). For Windows, there's a GimpDeWeirdifier plugin which provides a plain background, so it looks more like Photoshop on Windows (but not as much as GimpShop, which is just being cheeky).
Arke uses a desktop/windowmaker called Ion, but Ion is just plain weird (tabs and panes? That's what I have my multiple desktops for- and I like my windows to float).
Anyway, enough Gimp specificness,

Goes both ways. Recently had the distinct displeasure of working in photoshop, which was the only thing available where I was. Couldn't get permission to install Gimp and I had left my lappy at home. Doh. Anyway I spent most of the time blindly navigating menues, grrrrrrr. Couple of tools in photoshop that I like, but I won't touch it again until someone releases a PhotoshopDeWeirdifier.

Photoshop's workflow is abominable and it will never get better because Adobe think its great and most users are so used to it now that any fundamental change, no matter how warranted, would piss too many people off.
