GTR is the one to beat?
Best emulation at the moment but it's not as great as it seems from the demos (yes I paid $40 for the dongle just to demo it), best crunch sound though, I will be surprised if AT2 will surpass it.
Wow, I thought that was GTR's weakest point. The crunch sound that is. I liked the GR2 crunch sound better than any software sim I've heard yet. But all of us have differnt opinnions of what a good crunch sound is. :)

I suspect that AT2 is going to have features that we haven't heard about based on the delay and some things Squids has said more than once like, "AT2 was planned to be out much sooner but there were a few unexpected hold ups. I think you will understand when it is out what I am talking about." He has eluded to more than once that there are going to be some 'mind blowing' features. I could be wrong, but my impression is IK may be adding new features or refining features to compete and surpass the recently released GR2 and GTR.

Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I really do have a feeling AT2 will surpass the both of them. Then again, I'm not Ms. Cleo, so who knows.

Maybe they decided last minute to include the volume/wah pedal!

Wishful thinking?

Or the talk/wah emulator like in GR2. That combined with a pedal addition to the controller would be freaking sweet!

No. Let me make sure that is not the impression anyone is getting. Believe me no one is looking at either of those two products and thinking "oh no! We have to put more modulation routings in it!" AT2 already does a lot of things those two don't do and I am sure visa versa. IK doesn't copy. But, like I said, something as awesome as AT2 does not come without its own challenges and complications to be able to do what it does. It is not an ordinary plug-in. A lot of things have to be done for it to be right in many aspects. Sorry to be cryptic but you guys know I am under NDA so I have to be careful not to speak out of turn.

But, my unofficial "guess" is that it will be out next month and all will be revealed at NAMM as far as what ELSE I am talking about. I feel very strongly that it will have been worth the wait because it really is groundbreaking and in its own league. Well, okay, this still can only be opinion I realize but I believe it will be a popular one. It is pretty freakin' awesome!

Thanks for clearing that up, Squids. That was the impression I was under.

In the UK, Computer music January 06 edition has a section called "What are we missing" about bits of kit that were promised this year and haven't seen the light of day yet.

The first being Yellow Tools Independence
The 2nd being Behringer's BCD200
The third being IK Multimedia' "who are currently holding three of their projected releases hostage". Namely Amplitude 2 (+ stomp IO) Ampeg SVX and CSR.

There is also a picture of the Ampeg software with the caption "Ampeg give us our bass amps, dammit!" under it.

Well it made me laugh.

Have a good Christmas / Winter festival / holiday period (delete as applicable) all.

Wow, bad luck !!!
I remember having read on AT's site that the special introductory price for both AT2 full and upgrade purchase would end on december 31th...
---
Would it be that in fact IK decided to delay the release not for technical issues, but only to avoid discounted prices ? :D
---
(Just joking)
---
But this makes me think : as an apology to all the people whose only choice was to be (very...) patient, would'nt a VERY SPECIAL price be a good and clever move from IK, for, let's say, at least the 1st month of real release of AT2 ? (if of course money as we currently know it still exists on planet Earth at that date !) :hihi:

Let me guess..... it's a DI box..... no even better.... a DI box with a real tube in it...... too bad it's not going to be as nice as the one I already own..... though I can see how some will like this.

So how am I doing? close enough?

I just got and email from IK regarding a registration question I had and the rep said AT2 will be released in the next couple weeks. Just in time for NAMM, as some have suggested, it looks like. :)

Quote from the email.

"You will then qualify for the free upgrade to AmpliTube 2 which wil
be released here in just a couple of weeks."

Woo hooo! :)

O.K. So who is willing to sell their soul for 5 ePointz? :troll:
I'm just about to buy the Amplitube all-grade, and the first person to reply gets a referral! :)
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

You can give them to me :) thanks
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...
