Unfortunately for me I only have the demo and need to pay the $-- in order to get the full version, but I definately feel it's worth it just for the mixer alone

Here's an attempt to consolidate the many FL6 threads out there. Critisism unbound!!! Please let us know what you think of the new version and dish out the little nifty (or not so) things you have found by way of improvements...if you have it already, that is. CHEERS!!
Unfortunately for me I only have the demo and need to pay the $-- in order to get the full version, but I definately feel it's worth it just for the mixer alone

I still have problems with lining up repeating audio tracks, that have odd lengths, to loop properly. It always seems akward trying to stretch them to the nearest beat or quaeter note line. I never seem to be able to set the right quantizing. Some loops always seem to have clicks and pops on them no matter what I do. All the loops have been edited, in sound forge, to have quick fade-in and fade-outs so I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is.
At this point, this is the only real drawback I have with FL. It's really a great program but it doesn't seem to work well with my needs. I realize that I'm surely in the minority since my compositional style revolves around using odd lenght loops in my music and this problem probably doesn't reeally effect many other people. Still I wish that the audio track implementation would get refined a bit more.

Well, I don't know about all the fanfare: the gushing enthusiasm (of which I am guilty) does provoke a great deal of attacks, combined with the always combustible, "Gol is a jerk" or "I can't do it exactly like I used too."
But after a moment or two with it, beyond all the new goodies, the envelope controller is actually the one thing that stands out at really changing things for me: every synth/fx now is immediately and easily modulated. The mixer was a necessary improvement, that and the envelope controller are all I needed.

The feeling on Looptalk seems to be disappointment. The terrible crackling, pointless fiddling with ASIO & latency issues seems to have merely decreased performance and introduced problems for lots of people.
Then there's minor issues like DX plug problems, access violations from BPM detect, Chrome being totally inoperable and problems with ASIO-for-all.
I'm sitting on my install file until the first update and some more positive news on the Looptalk & Techsupport forums.
Unusual for Imageline to stuff up like this....

Exactly the same experience here. The earlier versions seemed better to me. Now I have to take *every* loop into SoundForge for a cleanup.John Vulich wrote:I still have problems with lining up repeating audio tracks, that have odd lengths, to loop properly. Well, I put them in Sound Forge for editing and still seem to have problems. From what I can tell it just seems like it's hard to get the quantizing to snap properly when stretching the loops. So even if they fave quick fades already edited into them if they snap a small fraction off of a grid line they will have clicks in them.Cabinfever wrote:Exactly the same experience here. I didn't have any problems with sound once I turned it to highest priority on ASIO4ALL. Still using the 7ms latency I did in FL5, using an AC'97 (shittiest thing ever). So I don't know why people are bitching...
The two things that make FL6 appealing to me is the new mixer and the slicing of patterns. Very good workflow enhancements

THERE IS A BUG: Discovery 2.5 Gives a Strange Sound in 6. In FL 5 you have NO problem like this. Try it with the "Vengeance Bank" for Discovery (Preset: LD ESCAPE) Its easy to hear with that. Just compare it with FL 5 and FL 6. Im verry upset now. Almost all my projects were with Discovery!
Bug nr2: Minimoog isn't workin properly when the CPU is high.
Because i have a project with 76% cpu made in FL 5
when i open the same project in FL 6, it wont play my bass of minimoog...
Damn FL 6 has to many irritating bugs
another bug: M1 and Wavestation still haves the same Latency bug in FL 6 just like in FL 5
ANOTHER!!: All plugin's that are created with UVI ENGINE (Machfive, trilogy, stylus, Ultra Focus etc etc.). is stil not compatible. You know THE FAMOUS Latency bug of FL... WHY DONT THEY FIX THESE BUGS MANNNN IM GOING CRAZY....!!! (This has nothing to do with my soundcard: M-Audio Audiophile 192)

exceeded, just because of the multi channel piano roll...not to take anything away from the rest of the features...but I figured my biggest wish would be the last thing on gols list...

I cant get a bit or work out if it. It makes awful grateting sounds and then locks up. 5 works perfectly. I have tried all my ASIO and native sound setups with the same results. I guess this last version was just tweaked a tad over the line for my computer.

How about "FL Studio is tops for a host already and didn't need an update, but the update STILL blew me away"

I don't have any of this crackling everyone's talking about, even while using my onboard soundcard. Could it be a PC specific problem?...as per chipsets and such?
