When we run out of bandwidth, we sometimes have to temporarily shut down some of the sections until the start of the next month.
Please take your time downloading them, (i.e. don't down them all at once) as we try to keep them up for as long as possible!

What do you mean Chase? The Chase wrote: ummm...good for them?
I think it best to use cleared samples - yes it takes a bit more work to make (and generally the quality is better) - but they have a Legitimate use and easy to clear if you make a good track you want to sell as you know who made the beats and their status.
So in short the herodotus beats are good as they are Genuine – cleared – and you know the artist that made them – you get the stuff direct from the horses mouth so to speak

I agree and all I just thought it was a bit silly and random posting them like that, almost as a comparison to the given one?
Anyways, people here are simply too anal when it comes to sampling.

That's a very good point... hopefully most people use breaks of this nature for constructing original beats, instead of using them as they are...Spe3D wrote: I think it best to use cleared samples - they have a legitimate use and are easy to clear if you make a good track you want to sell, as you know who made the beats and their status.

silly question: would that change the legal hassle? I mean is usage of an uncleared break 'save' when chopped-up and resequenced?druidtek wrote:That's a very good point... hopefully most people use breaks of this nature for constructing original beats, instead of using them as they are...Spe3D wrote: I think it best to use cleared samples - they have a legitimate use and are easy to clear if you make a good track you want to sell, as you know who made the beats and their status.

only if you get caught. which is highly unlikely. sample away I say. worry about it later.rokkon wrote:silly question: would that change the legal hassle?

Well if you chop it up you end up with sampled drum hits, and this usually starts a huge debate, but all in all is:
1) every sample from records is illegal, no matter how small it is, or how much processing you did to it
2) ...but only... if you get caught. and that's easier if you work on the next 50 cent cd rather than an obscure breaks track, i think, there is also more money to be made in one case.
