A question for Ozone users

I normally use TRacks for mastering but since I purchased an acoustic guitar I tend to create more mellow acoustic music.
TRacks does not fit this style so well (to much color) so I downloaded Ozone demo.
Very nice and very transparent, just what I need for acoustic stuff but...... I can't get over the fact that it doesn't have a Master Limiter.

Am I missing something here?
I mean how can you push a mix hard without one?

I used the UAD Precision Limiter after Ozone with very nice results but that thing cost a little more then I want to spend.

loudness maximizer.. same thing as limiter

ozone has a master limiter.

it's on the loudness maximizer button...you can push it really hard.

Try all the different settings.

Most of the time, it's the limiter is the only reason I use Ozone. Mainly because it would eat my CPU for lunch. Since I've upgraded to the dual core, that'll probably change.

Either way, I find the limiter can be very transparent, even when pushing it hard. Over on the left bottom side of the maximizer section, you'll see a slider for various settings, like Loud and Fast, Soft, etc. Play with it for each mix to see what works best. I've been very very pleased with it.

Oh, and make sure to read their mastering guide on their website. Tons of great and invaluable information.

I _used_ to use t:racks, until I tried using Endorphin + NyquistEQ + BuzMaxi3. Gives me much better results for the music I'm making, dunno how fitting it will be for acoustic guitar though (which I've only recorded like... once....).

Also, some people prefer posihfopit over NyquistEQ. And some people dislike Endorphin, but I think it kicks arse

I think the key note here though is that I _had_ T:Racks (which, imo, is quite expensive) and tried some freeware out and got better results

I use Ozone. But sometimes Endorphin is really all you need. Try it on your acoustic stuff. I agree on the asskicking bit

yeah i own ozone and found myself only really using the excellent limiter on my master, but recently ive been playing with the exciters on some vocal tracks, it is AWESOME.

It's been forever since I tried for instance Ozone. How does its limiter compare to BuzMaxi3? Anyone done any tests?

The demo for Ozone only mutes out for 1 second every 45 seconds, which makes it pretty darn usable for testing at least. Give it a shot. I can take kicks that peak the meter by 6 dB and limit it to -0.3dB, and it still has the same 'oomph', depending on the setting, of course.
