Not really.
Name ANY software that can do what FLStudio does for $149 or less.
I'd say there is none but you just KNOW somebody will say energyXT :hihi:
That's what I was going to say :D you stole it!@

I prefer FL Studio in use, at least for now, but I would argue that energyXT has greater capabilities.

And don't forget Rosegarden and Ardour!

And I hear Garageband's no slouch.

just to throw an opinion here...first I agree that eXT will probably be the new FL so to speak...but what does that mean for FL?...do they plan on upgrading PE every year an throwing in a new toy for sale with it? (like was the case with sytrus, video player, now the sampler)

I ask myself why do they leave out fundamental changes for making the audio perform better when recording? (They did get some better editors you can buy)

I ask myself what's their 5 year plan? It's a business, they're not gonna keep the ball rolling with updates/new product like this. (that's not taking anything away from the quality, just business)

My guess is that there will be a new "Edition" Fl producer will be delegated as a sequencer more and the new edition will come out with Producer's sequencing and powerful audio recording features and likely will be priced around the same as cubase and sonar.

Mind you this is just my opinion and speculation. Furthermore I think it would be a wise move for IL to "step up", it would ensure the company sticks around to support it's software years down the road. which is of course good for us, they must keep growing or we will lose out in the long run. The one question I will be interested to see answered is will they still offer free updates.

But like it or not FL must grow, and with that will come new editions. Some will say the new editions are a scam to get around free updates, but as long as they keep updating past versions (no reason they shouldn't, it would be good for business) that would not be the case and would test their metal so to speak to see what they have learned and what breakthroughs they may come out with...but to grow they must continue to generate income...:)

I really hope FL stays how it is... I love it :(

But if something should happen, well... I'm pragmatic about these things.

wouldn't that be a recipe for stale fruit?

I don't mind if features are added, but I wouldn't want the workflow to change drastically.

And I don't really mind if it gets "stale", as long as it's still alive - you contend that it can't survive unless it grows, and as it grows, it's bound to change. I'm just hoping its changes don't take away from its appeal.

well my friend such is life, no use fighting it. Nothing stays the same, just as soon as you get use to things, something changes.

Although thinking about it, I take back "nothing stays the same"...even nothing changes...;)

Carb.
Is that with ASIO4ALL drivers?
No the latest Creative ones...why use anything else?

Carb.

Personally, I absolutely love FL as is. There are very few things I would change, as someone who works almost exclusively with MIDI (though my experience with handling audio has been quite good as well). I wouldn't want them to change much.

why do we fear change? I have lived through so many changes in home recording. Yes sometimes I feared that change, I wanted to hold onto analog. Fortunately I got over that, now I know change is unavoidable. Rather than fear it, we should embrace it...;)
