OK I loaded this VST in Tracktion2.mbncp wrote:Well, right now it's vst-midi supporting sysex only. And not a single parameter yet, thought some of the code is there.
I will try to make something available by the end of next week.
In the meantime, for those who send me a mail or a pm, you can join here : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ezg_suite. It's very restrictive, it requires approval from the group owner![]()
Btw., if you are new to yahoo's groups, after creating an account, you may want to edit your account Marketing and Subscriptions preferences![]()
Anyway, I will be posting the files there and it may be better to discuss that stuff over there, it's already hard enough for a newbie to read this entire thread as it is now.![]()

I can only get sound on the "EZ direct mode"
Not sure what this means.

That means that Tracktion2, like FL-Studio, EnergyXT and certainly others, do support VST-MIDI, but not sysex.
You will have to run the standalone/driver version in raw mode, which sends CC instead of sysex to the VST plug.
If you get something in direct mode (which just forwards the note as is) means that your host supports VST-MIDI, and if you get something in the sysex mode means that it does support sysex as well.
The standalone can also just sends notes (like the scripts) or mixed, which means that you can record without a plug, but if later on you need to change settings, you can insert the Vst or Mfx plug and change your settings.
It's pretty amazing that so few hosts support all the basic MIDI stuff. Also make sure sysex are not filtered by your host, in cubase the filter for sysex is on by default.

Cool..... I guess
I am not sure I understand all this but I am for anything that will reduce latency.
EZ-driver sounds very interesting.

Just tried the plug in LIVE5 demo, and it doesn't seem to support sysex. Works fine in direct mode, which means that at least it supports VST-MIDI.eddu wrote:Does anybody know if Live can support sysex?
You will need the standalone/driver version as well, which converts the sysex to CC (CC20-30, channel independent).
Actually I think it's better this way, as the standalone version will filter some of the stuff that is not needed for the plug. And it's far easier to deal with CC than with sysex, even if, as a user, you don't have to care about them.
But you will need to wait a little longer as I'm working on all versions at the same time and this is ..<birds_names>..
Cubase is really cool, it supports sysex, vst-midi, mfx, vst-ma and you get a nice blue dongle

We'll see, but I don't expect much latency from this. If you are connected directly from the EZ to your host, this one will have to save all the sysex. The standalone/driver will filter most of them and actually send much less events than the EZ sends. And this is something that I filter very early, without having to make a copy of the event.
And a virtual MIDI driver doesn't take much time. I did some test using the 64 bit timer from directx and values where around 0.2 msec, including the processing time. My USB MIDI box is 10 times slower.
If you want to test your MIDI gear, make a MIDI track with events on every start of a bar (1 note on the first bar, 2 on the second, and so on).
Now, send this to a physical port that you redirect with a MIDI cable to another input, and record this back in you sequencer. You will see that if you send 6 notes at the exact same time, you will get a small strumming effect when recorded back.
Anyway, will do some test when I get there. Unfortunately, I just received Independence an hour ago, and these acoustic basses and guitars patches are just amazing. The upright bass has 21 key switches and up to 8 velocity layers on some of them.

I know this must seem like an extremely basic question for this thread, but I can't seem to find the answer (53 pages!!!). I bought an EZ-EG to use with Reason 2.5, which only receives one midi channel at a time. In this forum people have mentioned using the EZ-EG live with Reason. How can I either get Reason to recieve more than one MIDI channel at a time, or how can I get the EZ-EG to send all six strings to the same channel? My knowledge of MIDI is pretty basic - am I screwed? I would be greatful for any help!

You need to use either one of the script apps mentioned in the thread (mine is at the site below), or you need to set up your current Reason MIDI Bus input to point for channels 1-6 to point to the same synth/sampler.jamcrash wrote:How can I either get Reason to recieve more than one MIDI channel at a time, or how can I get the EZ-EG to send all six strings to the same channel?
To do this, change Channels 1-6 destinations in the Reason Hardware Interface module (always at the top of the rack). Also, turn off the "active track" icon in the sequencer (the circle with the dots: the MIDI plug) to make sure you're not getting doubled input data.

Only if your host records the sysex.Swed wrote:Hi,
every one, I`m new here. Is it possible to save sysex in an midi file and the transmit it back to the ez-eg so that I could see on the led what I have recorded
Record directly from the EZ, then just play back the file to the EZ.
Or you could send the track back (with the sysex) to one of the scripts, and see the playing on the graphical fretboard.

I'm near here, so forgive me if I'm asking a redundant or ignorant question.
I see a lot of people talking about MIDI applications like MIDI-OX. I have a Mac, and if I looked correctly MIDI-OX is only for Windows.
Are there Mac applications that I can use? Also do I need these applications to use the EZ-EG guitar as a MIDI controller?
Also, can someone explain to me the significance of the Sysex messages it outputs? Why it's different than MIDI, and what it can do?
Unrelated, I was also wondering if the guitar can play open strings? I know you can't pull off to them, but can you trigger it by plucking an open string?
Thanks!!
