I am using LP7.
Trying to gate an audio file (or Instrument) using Midi Gater (from Destroy Fx). I can do this using a noise gate, but would like to use a midi gate as many of my favorite patterns are saved in midi files (exported from Reason).
Basically I would like to be able to set a midi pattern on one track and have it control the gating on another.
BUT -- i see no sidechain, or signal routing for Midi Gater.
I have placed it as an insert fx in an Audio Track, but then Midi Gater shuts the signal off, as there is no midi on signal to open the gate. This is the same in an Instrument track.
I thank you for the trouble to help sort out my frustration.
DestroyFX - Midi Gater. - How do you use this.

You have to send midi notes to the plug to make it pass the sound through; it gates (shuts sound) on rests

Does logic support midi data from vst plugins now ? , never did on the pc. If you dont see no sidechain menu on the plugin i guess it doesnt do it.
It works as expected in hosts like cubaseSX and energyXT as they support this.
I could be wrong about logic, its a few versions down the line now but it was promised for the pc version and never came.

I've used Advanced Midi Gate, a very similar plugin by Oli Larkin, on Logic 5.5.1 on PC with full success.
You have to put is as input synth in an audio track and putting another audiotrack as a sidechain for it.
Then you can send MIDI data to it, gating the sidechain audiotrack output
