It seems that lots of people see themselves as plug-in developers these days. Come up with a company name, create a few web pages and then offer plugs that are either one-trick ponies that have been done to death or something more ambitious that doesn't really do anything out of the ordinary. Either that or I simply have become bored with this constant "new" synth/effect thing. I find myself downloading, trying and deleting far more than I keep. I sure don't need to spend $50 for a delay when I have a folder with more than 50 delays, reverbs and echos.kritikon wrote:$50 is certainly not out of the ballpark for a delay, if it sounds OK.
50 dollar Synthedit Delay/chorus...

What do you mean by 'modulation paths'? I always understood it to mean the same thing as 'modulation routings', which manifestly are doable in SE.3*s wrote:Unless you get into custom module programming, synthedit is very high-level.
No custom modulation paths, just standard lfos.
Yeah, I'm a big synthedit fan, and definitely think that some SE creations are worth paying for, butI kind of understand your point here. Unless you're going to write or commission some custom modules it's hard to see how synthedit creations can get closer than 'same featureset, nice GUI' to emulating something. That said, there might be clever stuff I don't know about. I guess you could do clever things with waveshapers or something. If someone has the programming skill to model the distortion and modulation inherent in an analog delay, then one would think programming their own GUI instead of a synthedit module would be no problem, especially if they plan on selling the plug.
This also leaves aside the question of why, given the huge creative potential opened up by a program like synthedit, you'd actually want to dick around for hours trying to get something that a bunch of anal retentives with golden ears think sounds passably close to a thirty year old bit of hardware...

interesting..
I'm playing with a springline reverb model, see here. It's beta at the moment, unoptimised, and has bugs and not the best model (still tweaking), but quite workable.
If I were to do a pretty UI and release it as payware, what ballpark would anyone suggest?
[Oh, it's Delphi, rather than SE, not that it really makes a difference..]
