..."pour anymore money into FL Studio upgrades" ? Upgrades are free, are they not?

ANOTHER!!: All plugin's that are created with UVI ENGINE (Machfive, trilogy, stylus, Ultra Focus etc etc.). is stil not compatible. You know THE FAMOUS Latency bug of FL... WHY DONT THEY FIX THESE BUGS MANNNN IM GOING CRAZY....!!! (This has nothing to do with my soundcard: M-Audio Audiophile 192)
Hmm thats intersting ... Im not having any trouble with atmosphere and stylus RMX.

I have no problems with Atmosphere or Stylus RMX, I'll second that..
Shreddage 3 Stratus: Next generation Kontakt Player guitar, now available!

Impact Soundworks - Cinematic sounds, world instruments, electric guitars, synths, percussion, plugins + more!

FL looks good but I'm still waiting for a Buzz like view of the mixer. AKA a modular view.

And some better Live-like sequencing/triggering features. (meaning a recoding of live pattern triggers that also allows one to do post editing of the performance in a song specific/non-pattern domain.)

I just installed FL6 this morning, and had a horrible crash when trying to load Chrome. Had to power down, and then it wouldn't boot -- complained about some missing Windows file. I had to use the Windows install CD to recover, but it seems fine now :scared: I expect my laptop is just getting flaky now that it's middle-aged.

After dealing with that I only had a few minutes to play with it before work. I think I love the new mixer though I'm not sure I'm used to it yet. PDC is less automatic than I'd have liked -- I was hoping to be able to just stick SIR into a channel and have everything work automatically, including the wet/dry knob in the mixer. But after some thought, I realized the channel delay can be abused in very interesting ways. :D

Had horrible crackling in the demo project that loads up until I cranked up to 113ms latency (!) but it doesn't seem to be consistently bad. This is just using DirectSound rather than ASIO4All. Not sure what's going on there.

in audio options change asio priority to highest....that will help the latency/crackling....chrome is just a toy, amd I agree with you on pdc... :D
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Also try turning OFF hardware acceleration in the Windows display options (Control Panel).

People who want to use the same PC for both DAW and 3-D gaming purposes, will have to learn how to manage configurations sooner or later, I suppose.

good point, those using xp should Optimize XP which I believe covers that... :)

I'm :lol:ing at the idea of using that machine for gaming. It's a 2 year old budget laptop with barely-there integrated 3D.

Still, I fail to see how turning off hardware acceleration can improve audio performance...?

frees up resources

I think 3D video is all about increased video performance at the expense of everything else.

Hmm. The whole point of a 3D card is to move a lot of work off the CPU and run it on a separate processor.

At least until Windows Vista / DirectX10 come out, it shouldn't make much difference one way or the other unless you're running a D3D or OpenGL app. I suppose in weird cases (poorly written drivers, really horrible cards, something bizarre about the motherboard) it might have some negative impact.

All I'm saying is, turning off hardware acceleration on my Radeon 9200, allowed me to go from "completely unusuable" to "2ms latency."

With hardware acceleration turned on, I couldn't do ANYTHING without getting popcorn/zipper/stutter sounds. If I so much as grabbed a window title and moved it around the screen, I could slowdown playback to a disgusting, noisy crawl.

Maybe the ATI drivers are poorly written. Show me a fanless, AGP2 video card that works perfectly and I'll consider buying it instead.

Chrome crashed the hell out of my computer as well. I've had FL lock-up before, and magically disappear a few times, but that was the first time it has actually caused a crash, ironically from a native plug.

Weird!

Empirical evidence > theory
