Len9 wrote:You are now the "Go-To" guy for FSU plugins. To become THE guy speaks volumes for your work.
I had no idea I was "the" guy... and I really have a hard time believing that, as much as I'd like to. There are still other SynthEdit developers out there who I feel quite -daunted- by, to say the least. ArcDev's Cyclotron is a work of unimaginable genius. Everytime I create a new "freak out" plug I have only to compare it to that thing and my nuts are crushed once again. :D I also know that I will never, ever, be able to make something on the level of XOXOS' Atomic Traveller series... utterly magic (though not FSU). That whole series is a absolute masterpiece. And don't even get me started on HGFortune's stuff... egad.

However, if people actually are starting to hold me in higher opinion than just "that pervert SE guy", then that does make me feel a lot better about this.
Len9 wrote:PLEASE don't let the cold, impersonal internet get you down. I'm SURE there are MANY users ecstatic with your plugins, but too shy to say anything.
Shyness was never a factor I considered, what with the power of anonymity that the internet allows. But I won't ever stop making plugs, despite what anyone loves or hates, until I'm through with everything I've envisioned. GlitchGirl-NEO was completion of my Level 1 series of plugs. Next year is level 2. The year after that level 3. After level 3, I will probably either be finished creating VSTs, or I will be using something aside from SynthEdit. That is not to say SynthEdit isn't a great program, but it is a program with certain limitations. I know I sound like a pompous haughty ass when I talk like this, and I apologize for it. But I promise you guys, what you've seen from DarkWare is only the tip of the iceberg. The limitations I have are slowly eroding away with every new plug I develop.
Len9 wrote:I, for one CAN'T WAIT for my next live gig to hear your beautiful destroyers over a GIANT p.a. system!
I actually am working on a series of plugs designed primarily for LIVE tweaking of material in front of an audience. To be honest the ideas I have are so simple I cannot believe no one's done them yet. Hopefully I'll have the first of this series ready this week. It'll be buyware though.

I really do appreciate your feedback and comments Len9, you made me feel better.

It is -difficult- when you develop things which are 100% experimental, down to the GUI interface, to always feel what you are doing is not only appreciated, but even -wanted- in the first place. Feedback like yours makes me want to go jump headfirst into SynthEdit right now though.

Okay Sickle, come up with a basic "what the plug does" design and send it to me. No promises on a release date, but to say this doesn't interest me also would be a lie.

Not the Nazi-Rape part of it so much as the nostalgia factor involved with Urotsukidoji. That was the first hentai I ever rented, and my Dad was not amused. :D

I realized you were a musical prodigy when the other night my fiance came in my studio and I had some of your material playing (Art is Dead - I think...) and she said "what is -this- shit?!".

That was when I knew you are on to something.

Ok, I finally tried this and it's definitely a keeper! :D

Nothing like running Vanguard through GlitchGirl-NEO, heh heh heh.. :hihi:

Same here. It wasn't a rent for me, but was part of a barter between myself and a kick-ass DJ down in Ft Lauderdale. We started a full Oriental backpiece on him, then he realized he could not afford to finish it, so I accepted Jungle mix tapes and anime vids in trade to pay it off.

That in addition to his 1985 Toyota Celica that I summarily drove into the dirt..

:hihi:

The first Overfiend was the first anime I ever saw. He used to play it at the clubs when he worked..

I have all 5 Overfiend DVD's now, but I only like the first one.

I'd LOVE to see something along the lines of Ghost in the Shell II as a GUI element, like when the first Sexaroid busts open, but I'd say that's asking for trouble..

:hihi:

(Actually, its 'Sauhaq')

At my own defense, a ton plugs are released every month. It’s hard to keep track of everything and try every single one. There are loads of freeware developers. I usually spend more time making music then I do hanging out on the forums. I apologize, and meant no offense when I stated my ignorance of the existence of your plug-ins.

Thanks Mr. Dark, cool plug-in!
There definitely should be more GUIs with naked manga babes...

Of course there are other devs out there doing great things, but no one is FOCUSING on FSU stuff the way you are!
Sure, they may have one or two destructors, but, correct me if I'm wrong,
it seems to be a passion of yours.
However, if people actually are starting to hold me in higher opinion than just "that pervert SE guy", then that does make me feel a lot better about this.
Man, believe me when I tell you...
your work is VERY highly regarded among some very talented people who,
believe it or not, might just be too shy to contact you!

FANTASTIC!!!
It sure looks like 2006 and the years ahead will be very prosperous for you!
If people only released what they THOUGHT other people would like,
the world would be a VERY BORING place!!!

Right ON!
LIVE performance is my ONLY motivation, lately!
I've seen FAR too many shows where the performers did nothing but
hump a laptop/mixer running backing tracks...sad.
It's great that you're not satisfied to rest on your laurels...
It's never about how "simple" or "complex" something is...
It's about having the means and motivation to present it.
Minimalism is religion to me.
Sure there is beauty in complexity, but EVERYTHING
can be broken down! ;)
I really do appreciate your feedback and comments Len9, you made me feel better.
My apologies if I stole any of your thunder! :P
I know, wholeheartedly where you're coming from, man.
It's the personal philosophical debates that will wreck your head!
It is -difficult- when you develop things which are 100% experimental, down to the GUI interface, to always feel what you are doing is not only appreciated, but even -wanted- in the first place.

"difficult" is the understatement of the day!
As long as YOU want it, it IS wanted, though I THOROUGHLY
understand the perceived risks involved with releasing "far out"
things that reflect on their creator. ;)
Feedback like yours makes me want to go jump headfirst into SynthEdit right now though.
 shucks
I'd never forgive myself if I didn't shoot my mouth off on this one, man.
I sure would hate to see you lose your way.
I've been doing electronic music for quite some time, most of it in an
"experimental" capacity.
Your stuff is ACE. PERIOD!!!
(and I didn't even start in on the GUIs!!!)
:P

I do fancy massive audio disruption, tis true, tis true. I'm glad other folks do also.

Len9:

>It sure looks like 2006 and the years ahead will be very prosperous >for you!

Yeah if I can just manage to pay my rent this month. ;) I think I have a better idea now what people want and don't want though, so it's easier to make a compromise in that aspect. The surveys are really opening my eyes, if not other devs as well.

Len9:

>LIVE performance is my ONLY motivation, lately!

I'm glad you have a scene that can appreciate something like that. I live in a hickshit town right now, it's a culturally depraved cesspool. But it's a great rural get away also... good thinking "away" from the city life.

Len9:

>Minimalism is religion to me.

I have an appreciation for it in the right context. Some of the plugs I want to put out soon require a slick and clean GUI to be "spur of the moment" enough.. if that makes sense... you'll need to be able to quickly discern where everything is for realtime interaction. Tweakbench does a great job at the "minimalism" approach... GUI speaking that is.

Len9:

>It's the personal philosophical debates that will wreck your head!

Yes and my head was feeling pretty damn wrecked 1.5 days ago, hence my outburst.

I appreciate your enthusiasm bro, I just hope I can maintain it for another year. :P I also hope to see more folks out there creating stuff like I have lately. I already know one guy who I think took a cue or two from my past work. Not that I mind that, tis a good trend if it ever started - GUI speaking at least.

Sickle:

I'm actually working on getting Wicked City on DVD. It really isn't that great of a movie but it is a desirable due to the fact that MadHouse did the artwork production. They are the same folks behind the original Ninja Scroll. I find myself more attracted to the works of Katsuhiko Nishijima lately however.

got it on vhs...should probably do a DVD of it before the tape shreds much more...
Wicked City is wicked! a classic!

I wish I could find the original Akira '88 English dub on Divx or DVD, even VCD, but I don't think that's gonna happen. :( The new dub might be more accurately translated, but the voices suck.
