I actually think you hit the nail on the head. I'm not impressed at all with this marketing blurb. AFAIK it's not even unique at all.

Cheers!

Bitching and moaning, nuffink wrote:Seriously, I just tried the plugin. It's pure bullshit. For the same money you can buy FabFilter's Volcano, which IMHO sounds better and is MUCH more versatile. Also, jackle&hyde is developing Vampire, which on the strength of some of the audio demos totally kills most filters and it should be free too.

I seriously can't see how sonalksis is going to sell this plugin. They've totally missed the point of filters it seems. I feel a bit sorry for them after their superb compressor and those dynamic EQ thingies. A major step backwards for Sonalksis.

Bad, bad move from Sonalksis. No kudos to them from me at least. Two thumbs down.

Guess who wrote:An example, put the filter in 48dB mode and 'Rude' Resonance setting, then in LP filter mode dial in about 12kHz.. now that is "rude" indeed. Enjoy the extreme aliasing.

This plugin is so  ..
nuffink, the hypocrite wrote:The Sonalksis filter most definately does NOT self-oscillate. The only filter I know that truly does self-oscillate is the FabFilter Volcano (There is a switch that you can toggle that turns this oscillation off automatically when there is no input signal. If it's off the filter keeps oscillating even if you press stop in your host).

Self-oscillation = at high enough resonance, the internal noise of the circuits starts feeding back and becomes a gnarly or smooth sinewaveish tone at the set cutoff frequency.

Self oscillation is actually explained in the name itself. It oscillates, by itself.

149 euros for the Sonalksis filter.. I usually don't bitch about price but like they say on Southpark, Jesus titty-fcukin' Christ! This is absurd!

Hilarious, missing the point by a mile - and then some...

Congratulations bManic, you've gained your first official dedicated troll :)

After all, it's hardly my fault how you three respond to my use of "self proclaimed golden eared brigade".

Yeah, go figure, especially since you use that so randomly and all.

Still, doesn't take away the hilariousness of this all :P

I guess there wouldn't be any of this confusion around had he worded things more like "off-topic bitching and moaning" or perhaps phrase it closer to "as usual, providing nothing else to the discussion apart from off-topic petty insults"...

Sometimes it must hurt really bad. Otherwise, why keep it going on?

Hold on. I was attacked, not the other way round.

As far as I can see it, the first derogatory comment, not randomly thrown, came from your direction. It was also completely off-topic to begin with. I could also add that the comment about a "1000 dollar tone control" and people liking it somehow missed the mark, as so far the EQ in question has been warmly welcomed not just by the "self appointed golden eared brigade" but a lot of other people as well.

Hence, the only value I saw in that comment was critique towards the people you so fondly refer to with that petname - in other words, expressing that "them" (or "us", whatever) and their opinions are of no value.

Soo... despite the 'bitching and moaning' remark, I see the thing differently. And I'd still see it differently no matter if I was one of the 'golden eared' or not.

I hope this at least clears why I'm responding to this - as all I see is some sort of unresolved grudge from one of the earlier threads.

All I see is a clique attack.

Yep, an international conspiracy and all...

And in the meantime, TBK still remains unimpressive to me. Despite the marketing speak, it doesn't sound that special. The featureset leaves me cold compared to the competition. To each his own and all that jazz. But for me it's a letdown after all the useful, goodsounding products they've released.

Now... you have an opinion on the filter or just opinions about people with opinions about it? ;) (this is my weak attempt at humor, apologies if it fails miserably)

JMH,

You appear to be labouring under the misaprehension that threads should be linear.
I posted a wry aside to eduardo's comment about pricing, which I can't see as off topic, and three people decided it was aimed at them and attacked.

My sentiments, yes you were "attacked". Sure. :hihi:  8)

You know nuffink,

honestly: I'm hanging around for a few years at KvR and I noticed only very rarely that you made a good point with some positive substance. One of the few is chordspace. I still wonder what your point with all your dissing is? Is all your fun in making people upset and therefor respond to you?

Best wishes, FRitz

You know fritz,

I think I'll chose not to respond to that kind of personal attack.

It only sours the atmosphere.

Well nuffink,

that were two simple questions which you seem to be unable to answer. Because you don't seem to know the answers. But that proofs my conclusion. No problem though. :)
