Can anyone point me in the direction of some good samples of rain, or even thunder sounds, that are royalty free? I have been meaning to sample some parts of forest gump but I'm not set up to do it atm. Can anyone else remember any films that have lots of rain in them?

Thanks

I couldn't find the samples on Kriminal's site, tried right clicking the link and that didn't work either. Vurt that's a good idea, sadly I have no mic. I might check out that doors song, but it could be hard to cover my trail with something so famous.

ah ok found the ones on audio shots. Thanks for the offer June, but I'd rather not pay for a simplish sound. Cheers though. Thanks all.

I've been frustrated with trying to capture environmental sounds (not just rain.)

You have to get into the field, somehow with good mics and a preamp that runs on batteries, and deal with wind, rain, cold, and so on. It's a challenge. The dynamic range of a thunderstorm might be the widest thing you ever try to record. Birds and other wildlife, and streams and waterfalls, live all over the frequency domain. It's nuts. Seems like it would be the simplest thing in the world, but it really can be a challenge.

That's why most, if not all, the sounds you hear at the movies are made in studio by foley artist; from footsteps to car door slam, rain, thunder, most of it is replaced by studio made fake. We're so used to those sound that if they started using real sound for movies tomorrow, we'd probably think they are fake :hihi:
