If all else fails, try booting in safe mode and hose the bastard there.
This usually works for files and folders that just won't die with all the Windows service apps running.

After all this time I don't think I can bear to part with it.

The way I do it, you need a basic knowledge of DOS.
Under Start Menu/Accessories select command prompt. Press ctrl+alt+delete. Under the Processes tab, quit Explorer. Go to the Command Prompt window and go to the folder you want and delete the files. Go back to the Task Manager and restart.
This should remove the files, but if you are unsure of how to do it, I would try spacefox's suggestion.

this sometimes happens during moving folders when the complete file names (inlcuding the path) become too long (>255 characters). I guess you've moved the folder tree of your mp3 library to a folder that already had a quite long pathname with the result that some files now have too lang a filename.stale bread wrote:ok i was copying my mp3 libraRY FROM one drive to another and it all went ok accept for a few files/folders. for some reason i can't drag them to the trashcan, or delete or anything. these folders/files are not being used by any other application. all i get is a message saying files corrupted or something and can't delete, whats that all about?
The solution would be shorten the path names.
