Music trends come and go, especially in the electronic/dance scene. As soon as somebody discovers a new sound, everyone out there seems to be ripping them off, till the new sound comes along. Same with musical styles.. just off the top of my head i remember trance being big a while ago, then it was house, and now it's electro.

I'm just curious to see how many ppl here hop on the bandwagon in order to get signed/get attention/personal reasons.

I've old enough and have been around long enough to see that modern trends are just old ones in disguise...

yep.
galaxy rayyys! powerful.

Whenever I can emulate the sound, hell yes!

Broken Beat is damn hard to do, so I haven't made much progress in that direction. I've gotten to the point with Nu Skool Breaks where I will have something ready to show off soon(ish). I've been playing around with grime as well, and for the most part I have it down.

I will post some creations along these lines soon...

Okay, I admit it -- I tried the whole DJ scene.

Guess I ought to've stayed with baroque organ showpieces.

electro's back again? didn't it come back in around 98?
I tend to arrive at most parties late - i'm still discovering minimal stuff from the 90's.

i'm still working on the Duran Duran synth sound myself
though sometimes i'll give up and go for Joy Division
i may catch up eventually
as i see Depeche Mode is back in play

back in the day (around 1980) i got big into recording my music. it was experimental. it was acoustic, electronic, industrial...whatever we could find to beat on (ooooohhhhh the rat verb!). sometimes it got popish but never mainstream. when i played out, it was punkish...but more like late 90's alternative. so i guess i jumped on a bandwagon before it got here

my latest punkish stuff is just what i think sounds good. i've got a BUNCH of electro i'm sorting in to 2 cd's. i can't compare it to anyone or any style.

i could see someone getting in line with a new style if it were "that's the sound i've been waiting for" but not "time to go where the money and chicks are"

trend? theres a bandwagon? :?:

im so out of it all, i have no clue what the new styles/sounds/methods are. hell, most of the time i dont even know how to identify the old ones.

What a silly question. EVERYONE is guilty of this, unless you invented your own genre with your own invented instrument.
