Hi all
Our beloved David Haupt ( who every SE dev knows and respects for his fanatastic modules) is on the AlgoMusic team, and is making us some custom coded modules which is going to debut in the M51 Galaxy and CZynthia VST's.
He decided to have some fun, and made this nice Montage using M51 Galaxy. In the middle you will hear a nice surprise rendition of ELP's HOE DOWN!! Pretty cool!!

Comments welcome of course

Tell me these are "one-finger" presets playing in this demo!
Seriously, sweet sounds here. Can't wait. BTW love the riff at 2:34. Who is that?

Thanks to Tim and all for the kind words. The demo is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what this synth is capable of.
As far as "one-finger presets" go, in the backing track in the opening section, the complex rhythmic pattern is entirely generated by M51 from some very simple comping on my part. The arpy sequence sections immediately following Hoedown, and the evolving percussion rhythm sandwiched in between them, are in fact played with one finger, using 2 of Tim's presets. The Tommy-like backing track behind the horn solo, and the segue into the Glenn Miller theme are 2 more of Tim's presets -- I'm just holding chords. The movement, rhythm and complexity that can be programmed into an M51 patch is amazing.
For the record, no other instruments, effects, or processing were used in creating the demo, so what you are hearing is raw M51. The maximum number of tracks used is 3.
And finally, I have to confess, it took quite a few takes before I was able to nail that little excerpt from Hoedown. Homage to Keith Emerson, and apologies to Aaron Copland.

I suspected the pete townshend lick, but thought we might go a few rounds of "who's on first."gentleharp wrote:BTW love the riff at 2:34. Who is that?

Wee, that was fun. A Hoe-down in space, eh. We'll have to have an Algomusic convention on the moon - maybe someday.
Here, M51 sounds like it has similar algos as M42, but with crisper, more piercing sounds.
So, when do you get ot buy it????
