I did this one using preset M42Blue Skies tweaking it as I recorded in a 6 min take, then edited a few times down to about 4 and a half mins.

I have to say I love the programme, so compact and flexible!

Very cool RYMs and ultra disTort!! LOVE IT!!

Nice tweaks as well and also good use of the SEQ stuff. You should post this on the cafe. Great work!!

Thanks :) (I have posted on the Cafe board, one response so far, sniff ;)!)

I have to admit to not reading any "how-to" articles and have just explored my way round the interface. I find it suits my intuitive mentality. Either that or I'm just lazy!

Hey, these were great. M42 is my fav synth - the sound is always changing, which makes any tune really interesting.

Let's see - I liked the noodling ones: cosmic organ and slow motion. These are much different than the usual M42 spacey sounds. Of course, the organ one was much too short. The slow motion did have one drawback - the background drone sweep was ever present which got annoying after awhile. I'd like to see both expanded. I like this introspective feel.

The "when the machine ..." was more standard M42 fare - but, hey, this is great. I liked all the warp stuff. I don't play myself, so this is something special for me. The Rym parts were well done too. How do you play these parts?

You've posted at the Cafe too? I missed it.

I should say only "Cosmic Organ..." and "When the Machines..." were done with M42, as for my technique its simple. Mess about until something stikes me as "playable". I'm pure instinct and wont go near a pre-set more than once if I dont 'get' the sound it makes first go. The Organ sound started out with the Journey preset which I added a step sequence to with the Arp controls then simply held the note for about two mins until I had a "loop" then I cut the arp for the final sustained tone.

When the Machines Start to Dance only happened once I'd played about with the preset in many different ways so that when I hit the record button I'd know what I was going to get with each flick of the mouse, then I just 'winged it' until I'd got enough material to edit down to make the track I posted.

Quite good & I like your "technique" :D, the distorted synth noodling almost sounds like a real guitar at the beginning of the track!

cheers

Cheers! Keep it simple I say! I like that guiatr sound too, if I had the talent I'd like to be Pete Townshend. :)

Sure does, I have one of your tracks (True Love radio edit) which was posted on the ComputerMusic forums years back. It was great then and still is. :)
