i checked out what was available thru my DSL service (SBC Global/Yahoo), something with Geocities: Geocities Free gives you 15MB space/3GB transfer per month, and i believe they put ads on your site as well...next in the upgrade path is Geocities Plus with 500MB space/25GB transfer, no ads (huge plus!) for US$4.95 a month, not too bad, and they supposedly provide tools for the novice for page building, maybe they all do this? ....price wise this seems compairable to other services you folks have mentioned, any thoughts? i'm thinking the other music-based services would give you a better chance of people finding ones' site, but do you simply get lost amongnst the 1000's of choices? not sure what my goals are for this stuff as far as self-promotion and whatnot, other than simply giving people access, this is still a new and confusing concept to me...are any of you finding that peolple are discovering your music thru the web because of these sites?
what exactly does this mean? i have a few guesses, but they aren't even worth mentioning (because i'm so cluelessaciddose wrote: a lot of people dont realize when they pay for access to the network, they are being supplied with a full scale connection, where they can host services as well as access them.
