Clearly nobody has spotted this yet, as the download just happened in about half the normal time for Live downloads

If you run the Live demo and do the onscreen tutorials to get started I think you'll get a good idea of whether Live suits you or not. It's obviously very different from Logic/Cubase, but if you get into it you'll probably be completely hooked.
Check out Sonar 5 too - the demo is now available from the Cakewalk site:

I used Cubase in the past and didn't really like it much. I also went with Tracktion for a while. But I now have Live and Sonar. I mostly use Live, but Sonar is still better for some stuff, such as authoring GM files.

i work a lot with audio, but i come from lot of MIDI experience, and are somehwhat used to decent midi features etc. logic and cubase midi features are really good, and i love cubase's ease of use when it comes to working with audio.
Live on the other hand is GREAT for audio, even tho it could use some kind of offline processing.
its midi aint that great however imo, but i could get used to it.
but then again, i could just get cubase also.
ah..u see my point?
i come from cakewalk-sonar-logic...and then the future is untold.

Alot of Live's most interesting MIDI stuff is found in the Clip Envelopes box. When looking at the piano roll in the lower section of the screen, there is a small circle with the letter "E" in it on the bottom, left of the screen.
Live's MIDI effects are really useful too. If you sequence a simple two bar Impulse drum loop and add the Velocity and Random MIDI effects with just a small percentage - say 10% - the results are really cool.
Have fun!

the E funtion is very cool. tried that before.
the other thing u mentioned was new tho, gonna give it a go!
im more talking about the layout and basic midi funtions however.
the most annoying thing in Live tho, is the layout. i have 2 monitors, and i wanna use both of them. now i have to click n drag the windows al lthe time, wich is very time consuming. but then again, i can get used to it, if its worth the effort.
(key commands can however solve this somewhat..)
