it's a veeery subtle modulation plug-in, trust it and let it delicately smear and smooth those harsh waves in your mixes.. :D

Whether you know it or not, you are enabling a plugin addiction.

I have already got gliss and marquis and they are superb. Then Voxengo announces this sweet sale... and now you guys.

Well that's just great. Nice going, jerks.
I do what I can :)

I was looking at taking advantage of this sale as well. After Tuesday my order(s) will be in. I was going to grab Voxformer as my track strip, but now I may get the Analogflux suite as well.

I just have a few questions about the plugs.

What's the difference between TapeBus, Insert and Impulse? What situations do each of them work best. The delay and chorus seem really nice and I understand where I would use each. If I want to make tracks sound as though they were recorded on a reel-to-reel, which one (TapeBus) works best? Maybe you could shed some light on the subject.
Like waiting man said, insert is very subtle, but does have a slight smearing effect.

Tape bus is great, and does seem to warm up the signal quite a bit, so far I have had good results by sticking one on the drum bus and master bus. I believe the tape bus is also a convolution plugin to some degree, with some additional "drive" and modulation effects added. Tape bus wont make things sound like a cheap reel to reel instantly, but it does do tape saturation and compression pretty well. The insert has some good channel strip, compressor, and reverb impulses and its a quick way to make a track sound good.

All the plugs are pretty cpu intensive, and also can introduce latency, so they are best applied at mix time, but the results you get are well worth it ;)

what I love of Tapebus is how in a mix it glues drums and bass tracks together. Works through convolution plus some voodoo to allow a controlled saturation, sort of dry/wet.

the AFImpulse is a realtime insert-only convolution plug-in, no "Wet" option on board. Great for all those colouring impulses like preamps, cabinets, compressors, etc.
the included ones are hot, too.

off to using the stuff, again and again :D

say waiting man,
When you say it glues drums and bass together are you using it as a seperate insert on drum tracks and bass tracks or are you using it on a drums+bass buss?

Post

Please do not mix Insert and Impulse plug-ins in this suite. :) 'Insert' plug-in is a little 'esoteric' type of processing. While Impulse plug-in is indeed a pure 2-channel convolution processor with a set of impulses built in.

no, on the whole mix. :D every compressor does some of that, but nothing come close to the Tapebus effect, imo.

have a look at dominion. i like it much better and it's free...

I have my eyes (and ears) on HarmoniEQ, Marquis, and Soniformer. I think I could get by for a long time with just those additions to my arsenal, though the Transmodder thing is cool, too, but all of it would be too much to spend right now. Combined with my Kjaerhus stuff and a bit of freeware, I'd really be set for trying to get my mixes more professional sounding. I'm starting to really hear the sqawk and honk in my stuff--just too much out of control bass freqs.

Ok I'm almost there. The saturation and emulation plugs sound interesting... but I'd really be banking on the chorus. Right now I usually use Sonitus modulator or Classic Chorus. I mostly usethem on strings; I like 'em lush, smooth and buttery. ButI'll use them on vocals, guitar or even small amounts on some drums.

I can't demo anything right now as I'm redoing my setup a bit. So....

How do you stack up the chorus and delay? What other things are you using for chorus and delay?

i'm thinking of getting soniformer eventually

Anaflux suite is great. :)

I like the simple IR reverb and the tape thingy very much, especially the preset that turn a friendly drum kit into a roaring beast. :-o :D
