three new samples packs

www.bigwussy.net/samples

van door.zip - lots of samples of opening and closing an old zippery sounding 94 aerostar sliding door

sound of plates.zip - various sounds of plates clattering, sliding on tile, vibrating, etc.

nit in the house.zip - moving leaves with a stick in a wide stereo field, breaking semi-large sticks, hitting sticks on asphalt and waving them in fron t of the mics, revving an unkown car's engines (what's wrong with it?)

enjoy :)

Thanks mate. You do the most inspired sampling sessions Ive seen posted here. T'girly asks 'has he done any more drumming on his dog yet' about once a fortnight...

;)
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Cool. All I had before was lunch plates! :hihi:

Great compliment, thanks. :)

Lately I've been drumming on a large (very nice resonance) rusted barrel outside my window. Some samples of that coming soon.

Not that you asked, but I'm really inspired by Boards of Canada use of found sounds and using them rhythmically. Though there last album disappointed me.

Oh and I have to credit my younger brother, he helps me run and untangle the cables ( 2 snakes each made up of ten 20 foot cables).

Does anyone know what curatical means? Is it synonymous with critical?

Thanks again for checking this stuff out. :)

Post

I don't think curatical is a word even :P
Thanks for the samples anyways :D I love your unique stuff!

Vibrating dinner plates???.....hmmmm...... finaly something that won't use a lot of batteries..... :hihi:

curatical pertains to the office of curate, or curator; if that helps. It's kinda out of circulation these days. You'll principally come across it referring to clergy, and often as a swipe.

..have you sampled breaking glass?

I love the sound of breaking glass. Specially when I'm lonely.

All around the sound of breaking glass.

Just had a good listen - those are excellent samples! I like the car stuff, good quality, clean samples :)

Also, I have to say, 'Plate Movement' is one of my favourites! And those van door noises.. well..

I'm sure I can find a home for many of these over the next little while.

wrt to rhythms from found sounds, Gentle Giant used to do that. 'The Runaway' being the most obvious - breaking glass and spinning things in 3/4. They also did it with an SLR camera on their final LP in 1980.

Safeaim: Thanks for checking these. Maybe you could make a little showcase beat, like you did for the last ones.

Gary: If you make something with these I would really like to hear it.

AsianCarol:  True True

duncanparsons: Hey Duncan appreciate, your enthusiasm. Yeah that car door has taken a beating. Thanks for the suggestion of Gentle Giant, checking them out today. Also thanks for clearing up the meaning of that word. I feel kind of stupid now knowing how far off I was.

Thanks to everyone who has taken an interest.

Thanks Genetic – love the plate movement in its panning – the cooker crackles are fun too – I would think they would be good for guys wanting some alternative glitch, it would be awesome in a percussion kit.

You got some cool samples there, nice one :)

Best regards,

Peter
