Hello
I will have another site for your listing in near future to save confusion
At least one of them will be umm! listed - seems only if you charge money for quality samples does it become something that gets recognised as a sample provider - have no fear - this is something I will correct in the very near future
In fact your list is pretty short sighted and of limited use (and from a very very small world of awareness by the looks of it)
Best regards,
Spe3d

Spectrasonics
http://www.spectrasonics.net
Their Stylus RMX instrument of one of the most popular virtual instruments out there. Distorted Reality is the best selling sample cd of all time. A top notch company, ultra professional with quality samples & new original sampling concept (Stylus RMX chaos engine). An example to follow for other sound devellopers.
Ilio
http://www.ilio.com
Sound distribution & productions. Professional sound design embeded in virtual instruments of wav & rex files on cd-roms. Never bought anything from them but they seems to be a good trustable company.
East West
http://www.soundsonline.com
Develloper & distributor of samples discs & rompler. They have a big catalogue of mostly good sample content. Orchestral & piano stuff also available.
Zero-G
http://www.zero-g.co.uk
Another big shot. They have produced content for Mixman Soundiscs, they are the creators of the Planet of the Breaks series & their old breakbeat/acoustic drum loops cds are simply excellent. A personnal favorite of mine. Title to check: Brutal Beats,Shawn Lee's Planet of the Break series & the Jungle Warfare trilogy.
Prodyon
http://www.prodyon.de
VST devellopment, sound design including free drum kits & the Spacehawk massive pad & textures collection. Try the demo soundfonts to judge by yourself. As far as I'm concerned, for an independant develloper the quality is as good as it could be!
SampleTekk
http://www.sampletekk.com
I discovered them with their Christmas freebie. The quality is pro & they offer a good variety of sample discs of pianos among other things.
SampleFusion
http://www.samplefusion.com
FL Studio's in house sample productions company, the quality is not always there but their atmospheric pad collection is quite good. If you have fruity loops yoou have access to more than 1 gig of free samples from their site!
Power FX
http://www.powerfx.com
High quality samples content. I know & use some of their drum loop/breakbeats library & all I can say is that the sounds are excellent!
Loopmasters
http://www.loopmasters.com
Loopmasters are the new e-lab for me. Their discs are cheap & sounds extremely good. They have a freebie page with 8 free samples in .wav/mp3 or rex2 formats from each of their discs. So you can try the sounds in your favorite DAW & judge by yourself if you like them or not.
Kreativ Sounds
http://www.kreativsounds.com
I don't have Reason but their refills looks very good, their ABt Xtc combinator refills sounds great judging by the demos. Free wav sounds sample packs can be downloaded from them on the FreeSoundProject website under the ao_ks moniker in the sample pack section.
Electronisounds
http://www.electronisounds.com
Cheap sample cds of electronic sounds. The content is not always good but most of the time it`s usable. The sounds are always perfectly edited & their discs seems to be gear toward using FruityLoops the oldschool way (with one-shots instruments & percussions). I often ended up using their demo sounds in my track so check them out, it might suit your taste!
Sonic Implants
http://www.sonicimplants.com
Their soundfonts are a bit of hit or miss. Personnaly I find most of them to be very usefull & intelligently optimize. Works very well in my FL Studio soundfont player.
Hollow Sun
http://www.hollowsun.com
Maybe not the most orginal sample develloper, but the sampling editing is always top notch! Sounds that you can process further for your own needs, mostly vintage synths & drum box, Zero-G also distribute the vintage collection in a NI Kompakt engine (if you prefer taht kind of thing...).

Well for one thing this seems like a waste of your time (keep in mind there is a list at the very start of this forum)SampleScience wrote:What do you mean?Spe3D wrote:In fact your list is pretty short sighted and of limited use (and from a very very small world of awareness by the looks of it)
look here http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 72&start=0
Plus your small list annoyed me bearing in mind you did not need to look too far to be able to fill it a bit better (keep in mind a few of the sample providers you have not listed do in fact have forums in K-v-R - so I worte what I worte
Does that help explain it?

Actually, given that Steve created the library for the grand-daddy of all samplers, the Akai S900 and onwards, I'd say he is THE original sample developer !!SampleScience wrote:Hollow Sun

And you forget to mention the range of sample CD's that have won critical acclaim, including the Newtron Bomb, CP70, PPG, Oberheim M1000 and M/01.
Shameless plug I know, but Steve deserves the credit

Beta Monkey Music
http://www.betamonkeymusic.com
Acoustic drum loop performed by a real drummer recorded in a high quality studio. I personnaly don't like them because they sound all the same, it's seems that the drummer used the same kit over & over. But the drums are recorded dry in a variety of styles & not always the usual 'urban' kind of. More oriented to studio performing arists who use acoustics instruments & would like to ad a rhythm part to their demos without having to hired a real drummer.
SoundEngine
http://www.soundengine.com
An online store where you can buy sample discs of loops, vintage & soviet synths, fxs & more... demo mp3 available.
Back In Time Records
http://www.backintimerecords.de
Films sound scoring, virtual instruments, multisamples, etc... they have a forum on KVR. Pay them a visit, it might fill a more 'adult'(mature) market. Intelligent professional sound design.
FinalFloyd
http://www.finalfloyd.com
Used to give a lot of freebie multisampled instruments but they have been removed to give the place to his commercial library for the EVE virtual instrument. Still new freebie are planned for Wusik station users. Worth a look if you either have EVE or a version of Wusik.
Precisionsound
http://www.precisionsound.net
They have a really interesting section where you can buy samples from weird old vintage instruments. The Red Dragon soundfonts is simply excellent. Quality work from a quallity company.
Modernbeats
http://www.modernbeats.com
Drum kits & drum loops available for the most popular virtual samplers. Hip hop oriented content, mostly high quality & very usable. They have a FreeKit to promote their work.
More to come...

Ah yeah I see... I personnaly prefer shorter list with 100% copyrighted free content than just a big giganstic list of links with one line comments. I actually either bought, downloaded or used & auditionnize the samples I'm listing. So I know what they are & I certainly know that they are clear of copyrighted materials. I also say by which condition you can use the sounds, for evaluation purpose or not.Spe3D wrote:Well for one thing this seems like a waste of your time (keep in mind there is a list at the very start of this forum)SampleScience wrote:What do you mean?Spe3D wrote:In fact your list is pretty short sighted and of limited use (and from a very very small world of awareness by the looks of it)

Which is usefull for someone willing to buy libraries of sound but don't know where to start.
But I understand what you mean, most people will prefer to download tons of sounds without ever investigating more about their origins & their quality...

So unless you downloaded it - and purchased it - it does not get listed - explains why the list was so short - but now its getting bigger, are you now buying and downloading the sounds then add them to the list?
If you are going to keep with this thread - you may need to change the spelling in the topic line from 'Devellopers' to Developers
Oh! and 'Adress' to Address

It's all done with good intentions but if you feel it's gives a bad image & dosen't help at all then I'll ask a moderator to just delete the thread.
Personnaly I will keep the list I've compiled because I just love the content these developers are providing & feel they play a major role in modern music technology by producing excellent sounding tool for musicians & dj to use.
I even use you own work but didn't put you on the list because you're not selling anything (Am I wrong?). That doesn't mean your stuff is bad, I just wanted to encourage those who try to live off it.

This is one of my initial points – unless someone sells something, they don’t get recognised as doing anything worthwhile and never get the focus needed to generate the interest to sustain the ideology behind the free sampling – hence from now on I will not do free samples.SampleScience wrote:

My free samples are to generate traffic to other artists in the auditorium to get their work noticed as well as my own services.
So in fact I need as much advertising as anyone else does – just coz its free does not mean it does not cost money and time to provide the equipment, edit and manipulate the sounds, and host the sounds – I am not the only one who would feel that way reading these type of lists.
I know it’s a no harm thing and I tend to just write what I feel, this I admit can be disruptive sometimes.
I will just add – its not this thread or your post that has brought that decision about – its one I have been on the verge of for a little while (due to stuff just like this and other things) and its just stuff like this that has helped me realise that doing free samples is Not a Cool thing to do, as its payback is negligible compared to the costs involved in providing them – it would be much better to do things in a much more sensible way from now on imo. So I will be charging for samples I produce in the future.
Have fun,
Spe3d

It's not that I don't recognize the work of free samples developers, it's just that there's so many sites with unlegitimate content in it such as samples from records, other sample discs that are not own by the site owner, samples from hardware or software romplers, current sample based groovebox & drum machines, etc...
It gives a bad reputation to free sample providers.
So, if you decide to sell at least one thing it will automaticly give more 'value' to your free stuffs. I don't know why but unfortunatly it's like that...
