On average I spend about 4 hours a day on the computer, sometimes less sometimes more. I have a laptop based 'studio' so i have lots of other things on my computer to distract me from making music. the biggest distraction is the Internet. About half the time i sit down to make music, i think, just quickly i'll check my email, and just quickly i'll look up this site, and the next thing i know, hours and hours have passed and i havent accomplished a thing. Wehn i do get creative though, the hours fly just as quickly. So anyways, back to the hours thing... i suppose i average about 14 hours a week actually producing/making music.

how about you?

Oh, and my biggest thing is that because i work fulltime, i hate the fact that i dont have enough time.. and i have a VERY understaing girlfriend, but even she bitches about how im sitting on the computer all the time, I simply want more hours in the day dammit. i am just thatnkful i dont have kids or family to look after, coz then i wouldnt have any time to myself.

I spend about 2 hours a night on weekdays, and sometimes 4-5 on weekends depending on the number of errands I have to run.

No gf, ex-wife in other country, no kids, just fish. But somehow the time gets swallowed up anyway...

When i went to a private school far away from my friends i spent 5-7 hours a day making music.

Now i spend 1-2 hours a week day and 3-4 hours on saturday (not enough).

I have little time for music these days with a little one and all...if I get 4 hours a week I'm lucky :) As you can imagine, there's not much being done !

about 1 minute on making music - about 16 hours a day on editing and recording samples

Too little compared to how much is wasted on forum banter
Obviously a computer still can’t throw a television out of a hotel window or get drunk and be sick on the carpet, so there is little danger of them replacing drummers for some while yet. -- Nick Mason

pfft

a well oiled KVRist can get all the banter he needs in one half hour or less

have to admit it chews into the time I could be making music tho

Too much time on forums and browsing the Doctor Who website. And working. Not enough time drumming. As to making music... Well, one day ;). I seem to have lost all interest in everything but drumming at the moment. Partly, I guess, to justify my impending £1500 investment... (and it's been impending for over a year... and probably has a long while longer to impend...)

i spend 7 hours a week trying to build a f**king dashboard for my Radium-61 until I save up enough money to buy FL XXL (f**k YOU GOL FOR RAISING STUDENT PRICE :x :x :x :x :x :x :x )

and thus be able to go on the forums and download one

Nowhere near enough :(

It really depends on how busy I am with my combination of money-making and university .... usually anywhere between 2 and 20 hours a week, averaging probably around 8 or so.

3-4 hours a day, sometimes more, but it's not spent directly on a track per se..

Alot of experimentation, building in Reaktor, etc, which is what's more fun for me. My tracks are by-products of my experiments, nothing more. If it sounds cool, I hit record, if not, I mush on till it does..

Not as many as I would like. However, eating on a regular basis is pretty nice.

Have a day job (from home), wife and 2-year-old. My music time is usually 9-11pm when they are both asleep. Almost every night. I try to do my emails and KVRing during the day when I should be working, that way my PM hours are saved for composing/recording/tweaking. Lately too much time tweaking and feeding my VSTi addiction.

Over the last year, I think I've averaged about one good 4-6 minute finished composition per month. I'm ok with that, but I wish I could get by on less sleep and double my output!
