Hi, Got an iPod for xmas :D and was wondering whats the best MP3 ripper around? I have AudioGrabber which is okay, but doesn't translate the CD's track text/code to the MP3 (it just says Track01, Track02 etc)
Any ideas on some good progs doing the rounds?
Cheers!

On most standard audio CD's there is no song title stored. Some ripping applications can do a lookup on the net to find it in a database though. Have you tried cdex for instance?
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.

Uses a Frauenhofer encoder. Which is a good thing.

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

Interesting comparison between CDex and EAC...

Interesting indeed.
The SoundForge experiment, too. I have CDparanoia on my Ubuntubox (with Grip as front end), and I wonder if I have a fux0red CD around somewhere to rip and the to cancel everything out except the errors. Might make a nice source file.
Or maybe fux0r a CD myself. Hmmm.

And the mp3s gets converted to something else before they are transferred to the iPod anyway, right? So why not use iTunes and convert the sound directly to .aac or whatever it's called? I may be far off, though..

Another vote for EAC here - it's got more options than any other ripper I've tried.
