I made this patch based on FM3's Buddha Machine. Anyone seen these? Great idea. Instead of releasing a record or CD these guys released a small music box. It's kind of like a small plastic AM radio. It plays 9 ambient loops/drones ad-infinitum (or until the battery's run out!) & has a really nice lo-fi audio quality from it's small built in speaker.

EDIT/UPDATE (Jan 2013): Buddha Machine 1-3 Combinator patches now uploaded;

The Buddha Machine is pretty brilliant.
Too bad the white ones were sold out when I saw FM3 play. The black one I have is extra special, though, as he used it during the performance.
Too bad I can't read the titles.

I'm not a Reason user, otherwise I would have tried this patch. Cool idea.

Cool. Some extra kudos to that particular Buddha Machine. It's hard getting hold of any Buddha Machines at the moment. I got a red one from e-bay which I sent to a friend for a Xmas present. I already had an order for 2 going through with Boomkat which turned out to be green & pink ........ the pink one might well end up on e-bay

I'm currently working on a Buddha Machine 2 combinator patch.

I'll download it now and check it out later, looks nice :)

very cool patch!

fresh shipments of the buddha machine have arrived at forced exposure in the usa and also at boomkat and staalplaat.... so all three places should have them in stock!

This sounded nice, but would like a concept of whole songs instead..

Cheers. Yeah I thought of this. But the idea was to kind of mimic the Buddha Machine as a loop based player.

Cheers. Are you something to do with FM3 or have you just borrowed the name? (As I have borrowed the idea :-))

No shit?

Hope you don't mind my BM Combinator emulation attempt!

dont mind at all! its quite cool!

unfortunately i dont have Reason, so i cant test it out... but i have some friends who use it, so i will check it out sometime this weekend!

actually, a friend of mine has made a similar patch that allows him to simulate thousands of buddha machines... he is working on an album based on this patch that will be released next year!

keep it up!

may i ask how the buddha machine is built? what sort of components in there make it produce looping tunes?

A Combinator patch with a Malstrom & Matrix controlling looped playback patterns :hihi:

The people bidding for this obviously don't know!

wow! bidding already at 23 quid.

the loops in the buddha machine are burned onto a small memory chip about the size of a fingernail... when the machine is turned on, playback begins... there is no "real time" generation of the loops. although that would be super cool, its technically way beyond me!!
