Student pricing isn't designed to make it affordable for students, its to encourage its use in educational institutions. The fact that you see it as a cheap way to get a license is probably exactly why they put the price up.

Anyway, as to the original question - it varies depending on a number of factors. Right now I am severely demotivated [since pushing out the last album in March actually]. I am probably spending only a couple of hours a week on anything music-related unless we have a gig coming up when I will try to get in an hour or so's practice every day. When I was trying to get the album finished I was spending every spare moment on it, between 4 and 8 hours a day [outside work].
I just spent the last couple of days on a new SE synth so may be playing aroudn with that might get me motivated once more. Sik has also given me a bunch of cool new ideas to play aroudn with which may also help. We'll see, I suppose.
