kinda off topic however here's a scenario that "I", personally, all on my own, without any inspiration, have created. it's all me:

first this is just a question, it hasn't happened too me..but I'm sure it must of happened at least once to someone.

There are so many music forums and web groups and such, so many that none of us can hit them all...especially like the yahoo groups and such.

So what would you do if you went to a site and saw your song, with your recording, playing and composing posted by someone else on a forum claiming it to be their song?

For arguments sake the person posting your song is not making any money, or even fishing for a deal...they are just representing your song as proof they have talent. So as a lawsuit you would have no recourse, it's just a question of how would you react.

Mutt Lange... Man, I liked production on that album, one of the my favorites  (even if I was wearing "S.O.D" "Celtic Frost" and "Slayer" T-shirts in public at that time)... No love is sweet like secret one :D

Yeah, and I bet it the Celtic Frost shirt had a big pic of the Cold Lake album on it, you sissyboy.

HI

'tuz'; haven't I seen this question posed elsewhere?

Surely you must have some idea of the breadth of human emotion?

Some people will be unaffected, whilst others will climb the ceiling - with every other permutation imaginable in between.

Flipper.

Hi, I was just wondering how you'd feel if you'd grown some really big mushrooms, and then you turn up at an unrelated forum, and some bastard is posting pictures of them all over the place like some kind of mycophilic pornographer...?

:hihi:
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Ah, but what if he said they were his mushrooms, when in fact they were a special hybrid you'd come up with after years of work?

Sort of like a mycological version of Paul Kammerer???

As a matter of fact, a similar thing actually happened to me a couple of years ago. Only in reverse.
I had a mail through my site from someone I don't know claiming that a track on my site was a direct note-for-note rip of a track by an artist called TVM from Belgium.
It just so happened I already knew TVM (virtually) and so contacted him to check out this claim.
Sure enough, he sent me an Orion song file of a track of his (I'm not at home so can't check the folder to see what it was called) which was, in parts, almost exactly the track on my site.

Turns out TVM had sent the file to this other guy (guy 'A') to remix, who sent it to someone else (guy 'B') to have a go, who sent it back to guy 'A' who passed it onto me claiming it as his own and even getting shirty with me when he didn't like some of the changes I made to it, as they weren't what he (guy 'A') had in mind.

Anyway, TVM was cool about it, although a little miffed that guy 'A' had passed TVM's track off as his own. Confused?

Fortunately TVM liked what I'd done to his track and said I could leave it up on my site so long as he was credited on it. Of course, I didn't hesitate to change the tag and song description on the page and we all lived happily ever after. Except guy 'A' who I've not spoken to since.
