HI

I am looking for a decent Brass sample set - I noticed this on E-Bay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRASS-SAMPLE-DVD- ... dZViewItem

Although Nicebeats have had some pretty poor press in the past.

My sampler of choice is Kontakt.

Any thoughts?

I don't want to spend an arm and a leg - I need sax, trumpet and trombone.

Flipper.

Never Heard of Nicebeats before... But, http://www.nicebeats.de/os/catalog/

Might want to look at Directwave/Samplefusion whenever they get the darn thing up and running..

I went to the NiceBeats website and couldn't find any mp3 demos or even any written information about what instruments and articulations are included in the libraries. How are you supposed to know what you're buying? Brass is probably the most difficult of all instrument groups to sample, I would never buy a sample set without at least an mp3 demo.

The best sampled brass I've heard is probably Kick-Ass Brass and I've also been very impressed by some demos of an upcoming trumpet library posted in this NorthernSounds thread:

Garritan's JABB could also be an alternative but may be overkill if you're only after sax, trumpet and trombone.

You might like the Dan Dean ones, I do. Project SAM has some excellent brass also.

I use SoundForge for that, but i guess u can also use Wavelab, Cooledit (I think thats free) or any other wave-editor. Just load it in and save again as wav.

Plenty here:

You have to cut them up because there is usually one octave notes in one file.

BUT FREE!

If you want those in soundfont format go to www.sf2midi.com All the Uof I stuff has been converted. Some are great, some are not. I did major editing job on the trumpet myself. The main problems with the U of I samples is that some of the players were very amateur and had bad attack and bad intonation. Anyway, don't reinvent the wheel, come on over and download our hard work for free.
