I'm looking for a good source of MIDI drum sequences, but in FULL SONG structure rather than just a few bars, fills, and endings.

I know about Drumtrax and Beatboy, but I'm not entirely happy with what I've heard on their demos. Groovemonkey is pretty good, but they only come in chunks.

I'm trying to save time rather than manually programming my drum tracks. I also want to see what Jamstix can do with a basic drum sequence.

Thanks,

Greg

siriusbliss -- JamStix is The Answer to your need for full drum tracks. Loop that shorter sequence, like maybe a GrooveMonkey one or a piece of a DrumTrax song, let Jamstix jam on it for as long as you want, and it'll create a full song track arrangement, which varies from bar to bar, and which can be exported as MIDI if you want to tune it. You can substitute selected bars with Fills, or set a bar as song beginning or ending, with intro-type and ending-type drumming.

It takes a bit of learning and tweaking, because JamStix tends to 'overplay' at its default settings, in my opinion. I certainly am not expert on it. But it radically expands your drumming abilities in a song.

If you want, you can explore the MIDI file that it generates, select sequences that you really like, cut them out as shorter loops, and let JamStix jam on *that*.

I know this isn't quite the answer to the question you asked, and I hate when people do that when I ask for help on the forum. It won't hurt my feelngs if you just plain ignore this post.

But, IMHO, there is no need to buy longer loops anymore in order to have human-sounding, varying drum tracks; JamStix will make them for you now.

For what it's worth, I'm also lately using DrFusion2, which rocks, and playing the original short loop on a separate track with it, in conjunction with the evolving JamStix jam on another track. I REALLY like the resulting sounds I'm getting.

Take care,

GreyLion

Greylion,

I'm not ignoring your post, and agree with everything you've stated regarding Jamstix.

I'm still relatively new at Jamstix myself, and it's still too busy for me, but shows a ton of potential.

I am mainly interested in saving some time, but I guess it's neither here nor there if I'm going to let Jamstix roll and still have to sift through the resulting performance data.

Thanks, and Happy New Year.

Maybe try BandInABox or JammerPro for saving time on getting full midi drum tracks.

Look for any site hosting full song MIDI files, load them into your sequencer of choice and throw everything but the drums out.
Further advance: You can just listen to a complete song, which makes it way easier to decide whether the drums are programmed well or not.
