Sequential went through a couple interesting changes at the end of its life. The R&D department went to Korg (hence the Wavestation), and the Sequential name and assets went to Yamaha (hence the SY22)...

However, what I stated is also true- in fact the Yamaha sampler of the early '90s (I forget the model

) was nothing more than an updated P-3000.

Thanx for the infos! I remember the Korg part of SCs history and somehow forgot the Yamaha part. Yamaha is Arturias distributor in the US? Aha ...

Sorry, but developers are really going to have to do better than this. There are too many other fantastic synths out there that can already do all this (by one means or another). So, as far as a Prophet emu goes, you'll just end up paying for a bunch of presets.

I'll have to disagree there. While ASynth comes close to the vibe of a VS, the only thing that really comes close is VectorSector (and the small GUI of that makes it hard to work with). And, while the Arturia clones fail as emus IMO, they're still very good sounding synths; I have MoogModular and while it's definitely not a System 55, it's a very good sounding and flexible synth. The combination of VS and TAE emulation has lots of potential

Well, it sounds like they basically took the idea from the Evolver, e.g., combine a P5 and a Pvs.

More specifically, the Evolver proves that the combination of Prophet 5 and Prophet VS features can yield a pretty powerful synth. The Evolver having components that would be like a Prophet 5... the analog filters and bits; as well as having the sampleset from the VS.

The advantage of the Arturia would be that it will probably have much more polyphony than the four voices of the PolyEvolver, for example.

So, this could indeed be a pretty interesting and powerful synth and one to watch for.

The VS had analog filters; only the oscillators were digital.

Personally i'm growing more tired with seeing emulations of various synthesizers. I wish they would focus more on creating new ways of synthesis or ways to improve upon their synths already.
