Personally i'm growing more tired with seeing emulations of various synthesizers. I wish they would focus more on creating new ways of synthesis or ways to improve upon their synths already.

Personally i'm growing more tired with seeing poor emulations of various synthesizers. I wish they would focus more on fine tuning and actually nailing the synths that are supposedly being modelled. As long as those emulations are spot on, keep them coming.

Who's doing the original Arp Omni? I would prefer that over a Prophet, and it is a much simpler synth. Other than more VA synths, we need more synths like Brass that emulate real acoustic instruments.

The Prophet 10 Version 2 with the double manual was an awesome sight, especially if you saw Richard Barbieri tinkering with it

I find NI's Pro53 is quite accurate. Ok, maybe not the perfect 100% emulation but good enough for me and my mix. Always fits well, VERY-low-CPU usage (could use like 20 of them in a mix if that was my need) and some very nice made presets.

I'm almost shure Arturia's synth will be like 500 times more hungry so I'm no way interested in that aspect. Maybe the VS part is fun enough to get me interested, will depend on CPU usage of course.

I'm really looking forward this synth as I'm a huge fan of Sequential synths. Some time ago I was lucky enough to do some extensive A/Bing between a real Prophet 5 and NI's Pro53. NI's synth falls well short, esp. in the filter area. But don't get me wrong, the Pro53 is still a nice low CPU synth and its overall sound is in the "prophet ball park area"..just not 100% there....maybe 70% in my opinion.
I hope this new synth really nails the sound....and that it also has a "polyphonic unison mode" !!! PLEASE!!!

Well, it sounds like they basically took the idea from the Evolver, e.g., combine a P5 and a Pvs.

More specifically, the Evolver proves that the combination of Prophet 5 and Prophet VS features can yield a pretty powerful synth. The Evolver having components that would be like a Prophet 5... the analog filters and bits; as well as having the sampleset from the VS.

The advantage of the Arturia would be that it will probably have much more polyphony than the four voices of the PolyEvolver, for example.

So, this could indeed be a pretty interesting and powerful synth and one to watch for.

One of the main differences between this and the Polyevolver is that Arturia's will actually do vector synthesis. Evolvers just use the digital oscillators without any vector control. I'll be curious to see how this is implimented along with the VA emulation. I'm also curious to know if they'll have an option for non-aliasing oscillators on the VS side, since in the upper registers the VS would get rather "trashy" as Dave Smith would say. Sometimes the aliasing is what you want to hear (Dave Smith did leave the aliasing oscillators alone in the Evolver), but it would be nice to hear some clean high notes. User-waveforms would also be cool.

The Evolver has some pretty extensive modulation options along with a sequencer, so I wonder if Arturia's mod-matrix will be as or more flexible?

I do think it's kind of lame that Arturia co-opts the prophet name when a combination of a P-5 and a P-VS is essentially a new synth and that Dave Smith has said he's never approved the use of the prophet look or name.

John Bowen's Creamware Pro-12 & Vectron are the best emulation ever! Guarantee...
John is one of the original creators of these amazing vintage synths (with i.e. Dave Smith, etc), and he has now recreated 1:1 DSP copies!

Yes, BUT Yamaha (Arturia's distributor), as I stated, bought Sequential in the late '80s/early '90s. I would presume that this includes the rights to the Prophet name, since it was trademarked by the company and NOT as a personal trademark of Dave's.
