Just wondering what the compressor-o-scenti are using these days for multiband compressing. What's out there that comparable to the Waves C4, for instance...GCO-1? Voxengo Marquis? Ozone? I've been working on a pretty complex piece and was very impressed after seeing the C4 in action but not sure I want to drop that chunka change on Waves. Anyhow, thanks for your thoughts.

ah..have you tried the PLParEQ series then?maxxxter wrote:snooky wrote:but, it affects the attack of the sounds..smears it out, no?
the downside of any phaselinear processing.
I haven't noticed any attack-related anomalies in these few years that I've been using linear phase stuff. I think it's a big bunch of bollocks. I have read plenty of technical elaborations on phase smearing though, but haven't experienced any problems related to it. Phase linear plugins, when done properly, simply sound much better to my ears than any other nonlinear plugins I have.

oki, well maxxter that's your problem then.
It's funny you should say you like waves (I assume you have tried the waves linear EQ, the linMB is a dif story, exuse the OT rant) over something that is scientifically proven to be better...that's the power of huge credit debts eh?
Waves is not that good, it's not bad, but not THAT good...fanboys ahoy... also, soon the UAD fanboys will come charging in and tell you all that the DSP is hardwarez d00d..sheesh.

maxxxter wrote:Look mate, I don't really care about what science says is better or isn't; the only thing I care about are the results: Waves Linear bundle, among some other great plugins, gives me what I want and it does it very well indeed. If my ears tell me it sounds great, and some other people whose opinion I highly respect say the same, then that's all that counts for me. I simply speak of my experience which, considerng the fact that I'm about to have my third record released, I do take to be a solid reference point.snooky wrote:oki, well maxxter that's your problem then.

Respectfully
That's cool mate, but I also have "a bit" of experience and I find it stunning that someone will just proclaim Waves the best when it is in FACT not so. I also have no idea who those you mention likes your sound are, but I guess that it's not important. Just don't go "waves is better than all yadda yadda" when it is in FACT not.
Waves mekes good plugins, but not the best.
