Don't forget with FL Studio you will get free upgrades for life, with XT you will have to pay next time.YellowJacket wrote:Since the price is about the same, should I upgrade FL Studio to the Pro version, or should I buy energyXT?

Actually, upgrades for XT are free at the moment, with no upgrades requiring payment on the horizon. Jorgen has stated that XT2 - the next big release - will be free to all existing users.Carbonboy wrote:Don't forget with FL Studio you will get free upgrades for life, with XT you will have to pay next time.YellowJacket wrote:Since the price is about the same, should I upgrade FL Studio to the Pro version, or should I buy energyXT?

Yellowjacket: If you are thinking of going for EnergyXT, try the demo out. There are no limitations to functionality other than loading saved projects - so you can mess around and get to grips with it and have a seamless transition if you go for the full version.

YellowJacket, have you tried loading the energyXT VST effect version inside FL? You can sync the sequencer in eXT with FL. Im not sure if or how you route audio into it though. As a master fx maybe?

Get both, and buy Tracktion for your audio needs
. You'll never regret buying eXT, even if it won't become your primary host. (although there's no reason why it shouldn't be, depends on taste and workflow). But it can do SO MANY things, that it's never a bad buy, even if you'd only use it as an arpeggiator or as a library of triggerable MIDI files, or... etc.
Personally I cannot really get used to FL, although I only used demo installs.

What a crock! Hands up who's ever paid for an eXT update. And how often do we get 'em? Every month without fail. Imageline's policy is just bullshit marketing, they still make sure that every new version has extra stuff that you have to pay for. eXT and ORION give you the whole shebang for nothing.Carbonboy wrote:Don't forget with FL Studio you will get free upgrades for life, with XT you will have to pay next time.

XT looks like a good deal then.

Again, thanks for the comments. I've been out of pocket most of the day -- "celebrating" New Year's Day at my mother-in-law's. I'll download the FX version of eXT tomorrow and see if I can use it in FL to add the audio-in that I need. If so, looks like eXT is the answer.
Again, thanks. And Happy New Year!

However I disagree with you on Image-Lines policy. JMC has always been very clear their marketing model is to sell to the existing customer base. Evidence that it isn’t BS as you claim is that they are still in business (with satisfied customers) and doing very well thank you.
I was going to list the things that FL users have received free in V3 to V6, but you know very well what they have improved and given away for free, you just live to be unhappy with IL so there’s no point arguing with you.
I assume you didn't download your free copy of FL6 then?

After two years of waiting, we've finally got the Envelope Controller! With FL6 now those great, looping, multi-point envelopes can be applied to any VST parameter!!! Between this and the new mixer routing, this update really is phenominal.

I was deregistered by those pricks years ago and eventually, after much noise-making, got my money back. In the whole time I have been using ORION there has only been one paid upgrade, from v4 to v5, much the same as Imageline did when they changed the name from Fruityloops to FL Studio and added another tier. I'm not saying that Imageline are doing anything dodgy, its just that they make such a big deal out of something that plenty of other developers also offer, sometimes in a more comprehensive way. The fact that idiots like you swallow it hook, line and sinker is what makes it so annoying.Carbonboy wrote:I assume you didn't download your free copy of FL6 then?

The survey is all wrong, since it's a no-brainer to get eXT *AND* FLS.

As I said, you live to be offended by Image-Line, there's not much I can do about that.
FL Studio 6 was free and is a superb upgrade to an already class leading program. I wonder what FL 7 will bring?
