John is one of the original creators of these amazing vintage synths (with i.e. Dave Smith, etc), and he has now recreated 1:1 DSP copies!

Including an odyssey clone that can't do duophonic. Hardly 1:1.

I've always wanted a real Prophet V and I was dissapointed in the Native Instruments version so Im glad to see this!

The funny/odd thing is that Kreativ Sounds is also doing a prophet v/vs reason refill with the original waveforms specially designed for the Combinator device in Reason ...

I hope it will be out by the end of January!

Anyway I can't wait to try the Arturia beast

Why "can't do duophonic"? It can do it without problems.
It can do 1,2,...6,7,...16 polyphony voices.
Why you say not?

well,
I have the SC Prophet 5 (rev 3) and I can say that John Bowen's emu on Creamware card is really close emu.(the main difference? the noise: noise oscillator in the real thing are not perfectly biased -takes a lot to do it, and will "detune" really fast"- when you play the notes on the original one you can here that there are 5 different noises,one x voice).
hope arturia emu will be good, anyway: prophet 5 is damn heavy to transport where you need it!!!!

It will be a normal vst... with a normal vst sounds...

Everytime a new synth is announced... it seems a revolution... that's called "marketing"...

I'm more and more and more excited for the new 3 octave keyboard version of the evolver with all that knobs and pure analog&digital sounds...

Well, from what I know the Prophet V is based on a rev 2 model (those with SSM chips instead of the rev 3 curtis chips) so it will probably sound different from those emulations that are already available.

But the main feature (IMHO) is that:
- you can combine the Pro 5 VCOs with the Pro VS's vector synthesis and/or it's more sophisticated filter/envelope architecture
AND
- you can use the Pro 5's filter on the VCOs of the Pro VS.
This will offer new sonic posibilities that none of the existing emulations has.

But then again, this is only my 2 cents.

I know what U mean, howewer it's not a drammatic missed feature (yeah, now is not perfect a 1:1 emulation in controller but in sound, yes!!!)...I've heard the demo of Oddity and it sounds so "soft-synth" compared to Prodyssey.
Same consideration for NI Pro 53 and Pro-12...

Creamware's Pro-12 is also based on the Rev 2 SSM model - it was John Bowen's original Prophat 5 that was based on the CEM chips (which can also be found in the ProTone and Solaris synths).

The other Creamware synth mentioned - Vectron - was never intended as a 1:1 emulation of a Prophet VS but is based on it though it extends it's functionality in several ways.

It may not be dramatic to you but to the devotees it all but defines the odyssey. As for sounding "soft-synth" well... from my perspective the creamware boys do a fine job considering the limitations of the creaking old dsp chips they use and I'd be more than happy to use them if there weren't much better native versions around.
