Acid 6 will probably be announced. Be interesting to see if Sony finally manages to kill it completely.

I'm especially interested if GMedia announces/releases their secret project.

I own and love ACID so I feel I can say that you're probably right. Sony will give us a few features the other hosts have had for years (whoopdidoo!) and then tell us how innovative it is. Sony have forgotten more about spin than Blair and Bush combined.AD80 wrote:Cabinfever wrote:Acid 6 will probably be announced. Be interesting to see if Sony finally manages to kill it completely.
Sony are like the lumbering behemouths such as Roland and Yamaha. They eek out their technology bit by bit in order to maximise their return. Change to them is like a knife through the heart. That's why Sony and the other multinationals failed miserably to exploit the new forms of music distribution over the internet.
ACID is my primary host so I hope I'm completely wrong about this and will have to eat my words in front of the Sony CEO but...I've never heard of a leopard changing its spots.

I was a huge Acid fan as well, but two dud releases pushed me to Sonar. I still have some hope for Acid. But not much.

I like a good old Sony bashing. Would you believe in this day and age that ACID offers:
1. NO synth automation (well there is if you can be bothered to work out what c.c. each parameter is assigned to.)
2. No midi control of effects.
3. A 5 minute wait before the plugin browser loads and then a 5 minute wait before the plugin loads.
4. A bug that causes fx presets to change randomly.
5. Only one audio/midi loop per track.
But at least we have the media manager! Yay! (I just lurrve rearranging my audio loops.)
Check out the comparison between ACID Music Studio 6 and ACID Pro 5. Spot the difference? Pro is over 5 times the price for not a lot more features. Pro 6 better be good!

6. No ability to use send FX for VSTis. Only insert FX are supported.
I moved on to Ableton Live a long time ago. I doubt that anything could ever get me to return to ACID at this point.

I still have hope for acid. I actually think the way acid works, so I really hope it continues. I don't want to learn a new way!
