Monster Cable I have changed my mind!!!!!!!

Well it was bound to happen, I have a broken cable...GC wont replace it...we at Mars did in fact just replace it..I sent an email on xmas...got a notification that it had been received, then someone sent me an email asking for my address last week...no response since.

I just got off the phone with them...yes the policy has changed, you now have to get a return auth. You have to send it to them and then it gets replaced (I'm gonna mark it to see if the same one gets returned fixed or replaced)..okay that's not how it was when I was selling it, the cables quality are good enough that they last a long time so I wonder how many of the thousands of dollars worth of cables I sold broke and those customers are calling me a liar.

Of course I said "I'm not paying for shipping"...so they are sending me a label (I'm taking this to the extreme to see how long it takes)...so the cable broke on the 21st of december...I'm gonna see how long it takes for a return...if I have it by Feb, I'll be content. (which seeing how it use to be walk into the store and they will replace it on the spot is being quite fair)...I do wonder if it's a GC thing as well (TBH to not have to go into that den of theives, GC, is worth the wait)

However I see red flags...why didn't they tell people about the policy change? Why didn't the guy who sent me the email asking for my address just tell me the truth? Why is the no questions asked, no hassle warranty such a pain in the ass?

I am also sending this link to them...lets see if they care enough to respond here...so far no apology has been issued, just excuses.

So this could be the final word on Monster Cable, as many of you know I have stood firm in support of Monster cable...it's good, but it's big selling point is the warranty...we'll see..I do not have a problem with having to wait a couple weeks..I have plenty of cables...but it should not cause me anxiety, aggravations or even shipping costs...I still stand firm on the law suit thing...but I wonder if a company I believe in is pulling a Numark and grasping at loopholes...time will tell...will I stay a customer...yes if I get my cable back by Feb 1st.

:?

FWIW treat me right and I'm a great customer, treat me with deception and you'll have nightmares by the time I'm done..we'll see Monster Cable, put your money with your mouth is (that last part is in case someone does read this from monster)

I refuse to buy any of their products on the grounds that they end up sueing anyone who uses the name Monster.

vis-a-vis, tossers. Kinky Hinky, I'd find a different cable ;)

actually that is a misconception, but I'm not going there again...it was started because of a publicity stunt...yes monster cable sued (and settled out of court) against disney for monster inc, and it was trademark infringement...

If this was one case what about all these on the US Patent Office filed by Monster Cable. Oh, and the film was MonsterS, Inc. not Monster Inc. so how do they even have a case? Plus the whole name thing is supposed to be about companies trading in the same field, eg. Apple Records and Apple Computers happily co-existed until until Apple Computers started doing things in the music field.

And it certainly affected GForce's MiniMonster being renamed MniMonsta. Ridiculous situation. Fascists.

btw I think if you do the research and not pages like were linked to above you will find out that Fender is worse ten fold than monster...yes it is true your beloved Fender has launched too many law suits to count...they use the same exact tactics you accuse monster of, and then some...so I assume those boycotting monster will boycott fender (my strat is a warmoth, I wont give fender or gibson 25 cents for a pick)...:)

Can you point to a URL for Fender. If the cases involve words like Fender, Stratocaster etc. it's not like they're in everyday usage - monster is a bit more common i believe.

the truth is, and I'm not getting into it past this...maybe they will...requests for time to investigate was asked of the courts to see if infringement was present...almost all were dropped...btw disney settled out of court, ask them why...of course monster would lose most of those lawsuits you read aboit (like monster seats at fenway) so if you think about it, it's not cost effective for them...;)

I can tell you that when I sold used guitars for Daddy's Junky music that we couldn't even refer to guitars that were not fender as "strat type"...we had to list it as s-type...also in the 80's customs made one company cut the headstocks off guitars because of fender...I'm not going to go searching for links...but fender reps see the word strat (which could be a violin) and a cease and decist order follows...that's from experience in retail...not to mention with both fender and gibson you pay way more for the name, and a few bucks for parts...;)

Did they actually sue anyone? And did they prevail in court?

BTW please keep in mind I brought this up knowing the law suit argument would come up...I could keep my mouth shut and just stop using Monster Cable if they let me down...but I have proved I am openminded enough to be prepared to eat a big hunk of crow...where many won't admit they were wrong...I'm putting it right out there big and bold that I might be wrong and if I am will be big enough to admit it...:)

It's a lot smarter to find out if you're right about something than to be sure of it... without really knowing.

when I worked at Mars I replaced many cables, I was sure....they changed their ways  but it use to be like craftsman tools...no questions asked...btw I reminded them that their warranty was a contract and they can't change the terms of a contract without consent of all parties...at the time I was sure and I was really correct...then they changed...so reread the title of the thread have I changed my mind?

Monster Cable also sued the company who do the Monster.co.uk website - a job search website that has f**k all to do with audiophile products.
