I presume that's a question because of the question mark. If you'd like to rephrase it in English instead of caveman I'll attempt to answer it.kybernaut wrote:Huh?nuffink wrote: ...from my perspective the creamware boys do a fine job considering the limitations of the creaking old dsp chips they use and I'd be more than happy to use them if there weren't much better native versions around.

Based on the reaction to Brass, I suspect that more than a few folks will be put-off by the dongle (which would probably be required) - that is, if there is anything to the rumor at all.

Thank God we have OhmForce. At least they create some unique synths and when they emulate something they add a few nice extras (not to mention the accuracy of the emulation compared to arturia, imho).
This to me is quite a boring announcement but I'll give the demo a go when it's out..
Cheers!

And why isn't it being improved?john808kid wrote:I'm really looking forward this synth as I'm a huge fan of Sequential synths. Some time ago I was lucky enough to do some extensive A/Bing between a real Prophet 5 and NI's Pro53. NI's synth falls well short, esp. in the filter area. But don't get me wrong, the Pro53 is still a nice low CPU synth and its overall sound is in the "prophet ball park area"..just not 100% there....maybe 70% in my opinion.

Looking at the "photo-realistic" interface of Arturia's Prophet V, I dont think its based on the Prophet 5 Rev 2 SSM chips.....
the filter and res knobs are in the Rev 3 position (ie in line with the ADSR knobs beneath, as opposed to in-between the ADSR knobs as on a Rev 2)
But I really do hope it is Rev 2 SSM based.

What a let-down.
Im sure it will be top-notch, but it's been done before.
I have pro53. Even though Im pretty sure this will sound better, i have nearly no incentive to buy it as I already have a prophet 5 emulation give or take a few functions.
Im tired of emulations in general. For high-dollar synths, I want something that pushes the possibilities of software - not something tied to the limitations of hardware in an attempt to emulate.

Well, pretty easy - because it is considered to be the emulation of the Prophet 5 by all the NI-fanboys and the press, which benefits from advertisement. If you say something against it - you are evil!
So if it is considered to be the best, why through money on it and improve it, it will get sold anyways. (cash-cow)
I think Pro5x sounds like are more or less analogish digital synth - more digital than analog, but a do not better say that too loud.

Suppose it comes down to the type of music you are producing, personally I'm into that 80s disco sound, kind of like what metro area or spirit catcher are doing at the moment. Have been using the pro53 and while its good, I find that its sound is abit thin.
Reckon a new virtual prophet would go a long way towards recreating the vibe of the records from that era, you know those pitch modulated brass hits etc

i fear we are going to end up with lots of miniesque threads
you see NI has to update a whole lot of things to keep up it's kompletekare program
i have a feeling that we may well see pro 54 at some point soon
should make for some pointless arguments about which more like things that are actually unique

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

If so, my P53 will have to serve -- it has served me well so far, and it'll continue to do so. I won't buy anything with hardware copy protection, ever. You lose it, you break it, you forget it -- and its only net function is to punish paying customers, as all known dongles have already been cracked AFAIK.MickGael wrote:Based on the reaction to Brass, I suspect that more than a few folks will be put-off by the dongle (which would probably be required) - that is, if there is anything to the rumor at all.

Well, do not know if it is the music or the taste - have a Prophet T8 here. I think the Pro5x has a nice attack and starting of the sound but then it becomes very liveless and monoton. The overall sound is pretty digital and not analog to my ears. but the monoton sound when you hold down a note was pretty disappointing.

I think the real key to any VST is to put some compression on it, map every knob to a controller and twist like crazy... then you start to get close. And I even add my own random pitch drift in and a little analog delay. Also after you have a line recorded in pan it, open another channel with the same sound and recorded it with different motion... you will really sound analog.

Ain't nothing like some armchair analyst's conclusions, mixed with some quickly adopted terms...steffe wrote:>>Well, pretty easy - because it is considered to be the emulation of the Prophet 5 by all the NI-fanboys and the press, which benefits from advertisement. Congratulations for utilizing the fanboy term though.
Now, you might do something surprising and for example read up on about how people generally feel about NI's Pro5x for example. A dose of reality sometimes serves a purpose - assuming that one is up to the task of absorbing some information.

Personally I don't think NI nailed the Prophet V with the Pro5x series. But -- as we say in engineering -- it's close enough for any practical purpose. Who listens to music with oscilloscopes anyway?jmh wrote:Now, you might do something surprising and for example read up on about how people generally feel about NI's Pro5x for example.
