(there's a warning that it will be removed shortly, perhaps someone else can host it)
Fascinating look at old school sampling and sound design. Includes the creation of one of the most famous TV themes ever.
But who's the guy with the beard?

the guy at the back of a lot of shots was to represent the bbc always over looking what they where doing. also if you notice all the clocks show 2 min to 8 ie 1958 the year the workshop was founded, nice touch i thought. if you like the delia derbyshire stuff look at www.delia-derbyshire.org ( i think if i am wrong google will come up with the goods) there is a lot of mp3's of her work available free! shame she died when she did as people where just begining to come round to her way of thinking and a lot of big names where name checking her. she did do some work with sonic boom just before she died but i dont think it got released, shame.

I missed this the first time, thanks a lot for the link!
At the roots of everything... man this was good. What a documentary to view on a widescreen laptop, with eXT running in the background.
I hereby declare this a classic, a must-see for every electronic musician, and the people presented in the film true legends. Some foresights and lessons for everyone...
I wish BBC sold the OST to this documentary!
I might sound gushy but damn that was amazing.

ffs. Seems like it's a collectors item (even though it was only released on cd three years ago.)
The Beeb are really stupid about their inventory though, they hoard so much good stuff and release very little to buy. Probably scared they'd make too much money and lose the right to charge for a TV license
