naturestoned makes a lot of sense... :)

i'd vote for the plpareq3 (clean/surgical) with hydratone and q-clone (character). sounds great, covers all the bases and keeps your plugin folder uncluttered.

if your host has pdc and track freezing (like cubase/nuendo), you can use them for mixing -and- mastering without having to worry about latency or cpu load.

then, if you need plugs for live playing or tracking, posihfopit or nyquist should fit the bill nicely. :D

Now SPineQ works fine and rocks, but i still have a problem : in LIve5, it only takes 1-2%cpu, but when i take one of the 4 "ball" very high in frequencies (even with no sound passing through) (above 10khz), i heard a high dirty noise, and then the cpu goes (and stands) above 35%.
ANybody experiencing the same ?

Voxengo GlissEQ for tracks, PLParEQ for mastering ...

Post

Remeber that each EQ has it's own sound (some times because of the 'shape' of the slope and some times because of extra 'tube/yaddayadda/linear-phase/whatever' code in it). One candidate for a unique sound is the WWAYM free NWeq mentioned earlier. Sonalksis EQ comes to mind too which has a unique character (rather harsh high's though compared to the more recently released plugins). Then there is Posifhopit with it's various modes. This little freebie is superb and has it's own character too. Speaking of character, you might want to try voxengo HarmoniEQ as a 'magic' tool. It doesn't work for everyday use but it might be just the ticket on some tracks. Last but definately not least, try PLParEQ on the final mix. Superb transparency without any transient smear.

Cheers!

If I may reach back in time here: I like and occasionally use NyquistEQ - but how does it compensate for movements and how is this good for headphone-users (like me)? I just didn't know that about this plug-in.
